I personally believe the main reason Moyes is standing firm over Lescott is to send a message to the other main players on our squad that their contracts are worth the paper they are written on and that he is a man of integrity when it comes to that dotted line . If all he has told the players is to hold weight he cannot budge from his current stance as it would make a mockery of all that he has built . But it must be killing him knowing he could get 22 million for a player like Lescott . I bet he cannot sleep .

And his options are ?

If he sells , he has to buy another that also isn't worth the transfer fee ? Or possibly a young lad , who has potential , but will only come to fruition as another position needs strengthening ?

Getting the team to ' ripen ' at the same time requires Lescott to stay , or City to significantly increase their bid and remain quiet about it .

I like your answer though .

Basically what your saying is, there's no players out there capable of replacing Lescott for under £22million? lol. okay.

Nope . I'm saying why sell just because of price .
Take a look at the housing market . When one goes up , they all go up . Before you know it , a 3 bed semi costs 200 grand , and so does your neighbours . If you like your semi , sit back , admire the value , but realise that unless you sell and remain homeless , you can simply only swap to a degree .

Good comparison tbf.

I can't be arsed replying.

You win.

let's keep him for ever more a men.

I'll agree that £22m is a good price if you can find replacements better or equal to him at LB and CB for £15m maximum AND have money left over to make the deal worthwhile, baring in mind that at least £5m is likely to go to debt management and at least £1.7m to Wolves

There is a reason why Man City want him so badly, and the reason is that he is at his peak right now and for the next few years will be one of the best defenders in the world, even though the money would be nice, its hard to see who you could replace him with.

Solid at the back and scores goals... for 20m.... who?

btw, Has the man himself publicly said anything yet or not?

It's only worth it if the replacements for him cost considerably less than 15m, if we assume 5m goes to debts. Otherwise we wont have anything to spend on improving the team, meaning we havent moved forward at all.

I agree, but the tasks impossible enough as it is without me throwing that in as well

BTW Azzbot, mention Distin and I'll ensure you never live it down (y)

I still think Lescott is staying. He has an unfinished job, as does Moyes.

I know I will crash if or when he goes, but till then he is a Toffee.

i think the players have accepted phil neville as captain with his ultra professional approach.

Phil Neville needs to chillout with his ultra proffessionalism . I feel sorry for his wife . Imagine having to sit down to dinner every night with him .

" The boss had us doing multiple squat thruts combined with power lifting in the afternoon , at this club we take every living second so stone facedly serious it hurts etc etc etc "

To be honest with you mate, you would want that professionalism from our captain - represent the club correctly.
Unless you would like someone like Gallas?
He's a good captain, is Phil.

Hes definitely staying in my opinion reading Moyes's comments about "consistently saying" he is staying. To be fair to him and everyone at the club their comments and behaviour have indicated this. In terms of JoLo well what speaks voulumes is Moyes comments about him "deserved" being cheered says it all for me and it doesnt sound like a manager whos at odds with a player shines a positive light on the players will to stay, and reports of a bust up.

So the message is clear hes staying for me and i actually think by the sounds of things JoLo is unfairly misrepresented out there in the media. Exstatic he got the reaction he did yesterday. We criticise the papers on here almost daily as talking rubbish but at the same time we have allowed them to inform us (perhaps inncorrectly) of turmoil, strife and unloyalty resulting in one of our best and most popular players be framed negativley. We should really know better then let the red tops divide and conqour us - but hey its silly season.

I will be so proud of the club - for their stance on keeping him against Citys ubber bucks. Everton: we are the white knights of dignity and true footballing values in a footballing world of greed and unethical dealings.

Love it.
