Every paper is filled with [Poor language removed], the only storys you can trust are the 1s with quotes from real life people.

Like if instead of Everton source, they said Steve Round, well then it has foundation.

And city only paid about £14m, the rest were addons and stuff, which they wouldnt have to pay if they sold him, I doubt. And like they care about making a loss on a player, this is the Club that bought De Jong for £18m rather than wait 6months and pay £1.8m.
 
TBH the only deal I would take is 20mill plus richards for keeps an Jo on a season long loan. If we do sell him then we do need a backup and I think this is the only deal that will go our way. Plus we will have an extra player in Jo and an extra 20 mill to spend on the likes of Moutinho and M'Bia. Hope he doesn't go tho:(
 

I'll tell you what.

With Lescott, you know without a shadow of a doubt what you're going to get.

With 20M to spend, you're throwing darts and hoping that your purchase works out. And I'm not necessarily talking about the player you bring in. I'm also talking about team chemistry, injuries, the spots you fill. If you sell Lescott, the margin for error is very very small.

Someone said it best earlier that when we sold Rooney, we were almost at rock bottom so there wasn't much risk in that transaction. AJ and Faddy, while good players, weren't dare I say it, indespensible to Everton. There wasn't as much risk in selling them to buy another player.

Selling someone like Lescott or Arteta and we're talking a whole different set of risks to what Moyes has built up to date.

For me, it just isn't worth it. And from what Moyes is saying, it sounds like he feels the same way.
 
The problem this season with letting Lescott go is that Jags is away until Christmas (I think I read that somewhere. Not sure though) and when he returns.... Yobo will leave for the African Nations Cup. So our backup solution will have to play each game until mid February. For a team that wants to fight for CL-spots, that's not good business. At least not in my eyes.
 
Jesus, I was already against the move before I even considered Jobo going to the ACN, even worse idea now

We'd be fooked if we sold Lescott this summer.

Oh...I keep forgetting Arteta's injured so no one will be interested in bidding for him. I guess Lescott is the new transfer rumour whipping boy for this season.
 

The Manchester Evening News claim City are preparing a £15m bid. I honestly think there is truth in this rumour. It seems to have run for a while now, and there isn't a denial from either City or Everton.

Moyes has come out and said he doesn't have to sell, which makes me think he's doing either: (1) encouraging City to raise their game to offering something starting with a 2; or (2) actually telling the truth, and he really does mean no-one is for sale.

The problem is, if Joleon isn't for sale, I don't know why Moyes doesn't just come out and say: Even if you offer us £20m+, the lad's going nowhere. He's contracted, and I will under no circumstances let him leave the club.

Until Moyes comes out with a statement like that, the rumours will continue until either Joleon is sold, or City move on to another target due to being unwilling to match Everton's very high valuation.

Every player has a price and if City offer us stupid money, moysie and co would have to seriously think long and hard about it. But 20m but be very hard to turn down.
 
I thnk that this story has legs on it. City will make a bid, Moyes has now said that he doesn't want to sell. Looks to me that its up to Joleon and his own ambitions. Like Andy Johnson, it was his decision to leave, not really Moyes to sell him.

I don't want him to leave, but if we get a good deal, that is enough money to make a like for like replacement and a bit more for transfers, then it would represent good business. £15m in today's climate with so few quality centre backs is not good business unless Moyes can unearth another Jagielka gem.
