Our great season last year was built on team spirit. Lescott has destroyed that team spirit with his antics this summer.
The sooner he goes the better.

Our good season was built on alot of things, not just team spirit.

Lescott didn't make Yobo hoof the ball all game, he didn't make Neville and Cahill not look for the ball and him wanting to leave certainly didn't effect Hibbert's crossing.

It's a poor excuse to be honest, there all individuals at the end of the day. They should be proffessional and get on with it, and I don't see how a player wanting to leave would ruin team spirit. It happens, that's football at the end of the day.

Of course it happens. Moyes himself has said that the whole saga has upset the club. IMO you could see that today with the lack of togetherness and effort. It is not ALL down to Lescott by any means, because like you say they are individual players.

But it's not helped, Tox, has it? Moyes has spent too much time again on doing nothing and getting embroiled in pettiness. He should have ignored all the [Poor language removed] and concentrated on shifting a player that wants to go, and improving the squad. Like last season, we are not prepared for the coming campaign. Moyes can turn it around, as he's proved before. I just wish he wouldn't give himself all this extra work.

But today is an embarrassment.

It does make a difference, it's a distraction. Anything that disrupts your state of mind when playing is a negative thing. Our defending of set pieces was ridiculous, doesn't really bear commenting on.

It's how we played after going four down that worries me. If you're getting battered you run the game into the ground and make sure you don't concede any more. When was the last time any top team had six put past them? It just shouldn't happen.

Good post, Browns.

That was the worst spanking I can recall for a long, long time. I agree with Browns, the body language of ALL the players at 0-4 was a joke. But you only had to look around the ground to see it was a shared give up.

It hasn't helped no, it's far from the reason we lost today though.

As you say, once again we where not prepared properly. We've signed no one and we have three key players missing. You always run the risk of losing a game against a quality side like Arsenal in our circumstances.

It was just a really bad performance on the day I think, that's what I'm hoping anyway. If we sign some players this week we'll be fine.

Reflecting on his team's thumping by Arsenal, Moyes expressed his disappointment as his players' inability to perform the basic tasks.

He added: "We need to do better, I need to do better and coach them better to make sure we stop that happening again.

"There are no excuses for that. I take the responsibility and do better with the players that I have got.

"I have to do something about it (bringing people in). But that was virtually the cup final team, so the players have to take their responsibility to head the ball out of the box, mark people and go with runners at set-pieces.

"These things should be their basics. Things we should be doing naturally.

"There was too much wrong to mention. It was a disappointing result and it has knocked our confidence."

Good statement actually

Totally agree. Made a similar comment when we we conceded the 4th goal. Arsenal still looked more eager than us, it was as if we were the team that was 4-0 up.
