You can disagree all you like. But how do you know our ambitions? If you knew me, you would know there is nothing more that I would like than for our club to succeed, and wouldn't want anything to happen that would jeopardise that - when you question mine and other ambition, it's based on absolutely nothing to be honest.

I could say you lack ambition for not wanting to get money to strengthen other positions...but do I?

I am totally against it but i am not liking Lescotts comments of being flattered by interest.

If he handed in a request id make City crawl for him, what would soften the blow would be 20mill cold, Sturridge and Johnson.

Even then i would have a severe moan.

Maybe he is flattered though. Nice little ego boost if clubs are interested. I don't think it's really an issue. Most of what he said was positive about staying and it looks as though he may be more focused on success than wages atm.

You wanna piece of me mate??? You want your pound of flesh?? Your gonna have to get up earlier and train harder to even come close to me. You aint man enough to walk in these shoes.

Lescott is not for sale, you can tell your mates at City, tell em Goat said do 1 you horrid Mancs.

Every player has his price. Is Lescott's 18m or whatever is being rumoured? I don't know, but I think if the offer came in, that might well be enough.

The thing you have to remember is, Lescott was not Lescott-the-invincible when Moyes bought him. Jagielka was not the player he is today - he was just a journeyman defender in a team that had just been relegated. Baines wasn't one of the very best left-backs in the country. Arteta wasn't the midfield maestro that he is today, and Pienaar was just some dodgy midfielder who couldn't cut it at Bayern. It's the way Moyes moulds these players and gets them playing to a system that makes us so effective. They're good players, but there are plenty of good players out there who could be bought and fitted in.

Right now I'm more worried about United...ie. Vidic going to Barca rumour. Lot more on offer for Joleon as a footballer as opposed to City.
Yeah thats true,i suppose it was only a matter of time before the big fish(i.e United) and the wannabe's (city) came a looking at signing him,i'd be sad to see him though.

David Moyes: Everton won't sell Andy Johnson - mirror.co.uk

It's not definitive simply because he has to say that no matter what. If (I repeat: if) Everton would consider a big bid, he STILL has to say these things because the bd may not arrive.

Thats different AJ wanted to leave, I honestly dont think Moyes would have sold him otherwise and I'd bet at the time of that quote they still hadnt spoken about it amongst themselves. Fair enough he will say he's not gettin rid of anyone until a bid comes in but you missed the point of my post, Moyes isnt looking to sell and wont unless the player wants to leave. Jesus some people just cant get out of doom and gloom can they

Doom and gloom? I think you missed the point of my post.

You seem to believe that Moyes' quote is more meaningful that the winner's speech at Miss World. It isn't. There is nothing of subtance in it either way.

He made exactly the same statement before AJ. You can make all the excuses you want for Moyes (AJ went on his summer hols without once mentioning to Moyes that he wanted to leave, or even saying he was unhappy? really?), but AJ went. If Moyes agreed to the sale, he can't have been that desperate to keep hold of him. Arguments like "oh he's never lied before, except when he has but that doesn't count" won't cut it.

It's not doom and gloom. It's not anything. It's a non-entity. It's like when a comedy film is described as "the funniest film of the year", or when a politician claims he hasn't breached any rules, or when a celebrity claims he isn't racist etc. The statement is irrelevent, because they ALWAYS say that, no matter what the truth is.

Anything that you read into them is just want you want to believe. City fans would read the comments and say "that's Moyes trying to up the price".

Agree with that, mate. I love Moyes, and I do think he has integrity, and is generally one of the more honest managers. But he's as much a bullshitter as the next guy when he thinks it's in his interests. I would take anything Moyes says with a pinch of salt regarding transfers, in and out of the club. Plus, everyone knows Moyes contradicts himself every other week.

About AJ...there were rumours of clubs going in for him before the end of the season.

I'm sure Moyes wanted to keep him, I know I did. But he had to drum up cash for other transfers and Fulham were willing to pay £13million for him (which ended up being £10million). Moyes milked that for all its worth.

We all know AJ wasnt worth £13million. AJ wasnt getting 1st team football over the Yak. We knew that we'd need to get a replacement in if he went. That worked itself out with Saha coming in...but when the Yak was injured, I know a few people wouldnt have minded AJ back - but it all worked out in the end.

The Lescott thing is completely different in terms of class. Lescott is worth every penny of £15-20million. He's our 1st choice centre half and broke into the England squad as a class left back - for which we do not have a back up for. Jags is injured and is more than likely not going to be 100% fit at the start of next season. We will have 1 fit centre half, Jack Rodwell (unproven at CB in the league), Phil Neville, or academy players.

If we're going to sell Lescott, yes hold out for the most amount of money, like we did with AJ.

Pros and Cons -

Pros
We can get at least £20million.

Cons
Dont have another back up center half
Dont have another back up left back.
Woiuld have to buy/loan another left back and centre half

So selling one player means getting in another 2.

Personally, if we want to drum up some cash.....

Sell Hibbert and Anichebe - £10mill
Keep Jacobsen - Free.

Who in the world is buying Hibbo and Anichebe for 10M??

I'd be fine with Lescott for 20M provided we had someone coming to replace him and can get another decent player w/ the money.

I doubt Moyes is selling though. He hates to sell. Plus w/ lescott we have versality at the back (I personally think he had a better season at LB last year). AJ to Fulham for 11M was a no-brainer and he still didn't want to sell. I don't think he wanted to let Faddy go either.
