Johnny Heitinga - You blew it son.

What happens when one player starts playing better and one starts playing worse.

Obviously your opinions on both change. Otherwise you'd be insane.

Right, your opinions on their play can change, but can fans really insist that these players should never suit up for us again, and that we should ship them out when we don't even know if we can get adequate replacements?

Not to say that he shouldn't be dropped. Jelavic got dropped for Anichibe, so maybe Heitinga should be dropped for Duffy (or Neville to RB). All the same however, he plays for Everton.

Not sure if serious...

It was more a point for discussion really.

But if i remember rightly Heitinga was playing well at the end of last season, then we came back for pre season and he was left out for Jagielka and hasn't been any good since.

An understandable decision in some ways of course but i'm sure it was questioned on here why he went from playing in great form to being dropped.

It may or may not have anything to do with his form this season but its odd how he can go from playing so well one season to being so bad the next.

It's pretty obvious that Distin/Jags is our best CB partnering and was last year. If jags didn't get injured, Heitinga wouldn't have had a sniff.
It's clear Moyes isn't a big fan off him and there's definitely a clash of personalities between the two.

BRING BACK JOEY YOBO MOYES

Heitinga should only play in emergencies from now until the end of the season. His performance yesterday was just embarrassing.

If Duffy came in and made even one of the mistakes Heitinga has made this season we'd never see him again (although saying that, we haven't seen Duffy in about a year anyway).

It's a chicken or egg thing. Was he dropped because his form had dropped in training/internationals or did his form drop because he was dropped?

Doesn't matter whether he was dropped for murdering Moyes' dog or telling a bad joke, he's had plenty of chances to perform since then and hasn't. 24 appearances this season, and if that isn't enough time for a professional footballer to regain confidence then he's not cut out for it.

I love John when he plays well, unfortunately at times he is absolutely terrible for almost entire games. Unless he finds some professional pride from somewhere and wants to put in the hard work to get back in form, there's really no point in him being at the club.

No idea mate, could be either, its all just speculation. But i think its certainly a viable possibilty that after coming in and playing as well as he did, being dropped after that run of good form (for the second time i believe) could have had an affect on him.

3.5 years are enough to establish yourself, he hasn't been consistent by any means and had the worst week of his career this. I like the fact that he acknowledged this on twitter but then again...twitter doesn't win you matches.

Personally although he had a bad performance i think he could only be directly blamed for one of the goals. The first goal was a mistake [a bad one too] by Distin, and probably baines / pienaar too. And i don't think the goalkeeper was great for any of the goals. I would rather we moved him on in the summer, Put the wages towards another player and promote Shane Duffy.

i agree Aaron - where were the rest of the back 4 and def mids - we have a weakness on our left flank with Baines doing exellent attacking duties - all 3 Villa goals came from that side -
we simply cocede far too many goals no matter who is playing -
my humble opinion is that our back 4 is not sufficienly shielded by our def mids and we pay the price for using our left and right back primarilly for offensive purposes - effectively leaving the back 2 or 3 exposed without cover - that is exactly what happened to Heitinga yesterday and he could not cope on his own

On his own he was like a statue - Paul lambert was probally watchinh JH when we played West Brom spotted the weaket link by far it was JH on Wed & exploited it after 2 mins in - our manager left it like that till we had conceded three goals in which JH was at fault for all of them - too slow no desire etc just put him right back in the dressing room for the rest of thwe season for him to tweet he had a bad game was an understatement by him imo!

probably already posted (so apologies if so) but Kevin Davies said on Goals on Sunday this morning that Bolton had targeted our central defence in the FA Cup game as they did their homework and noticed how stretched/far apart our central defensive pairing are when we get countered on. Easy to see - Baines pushes on we lose the ball and Distin ends up covering his position leaving one (heitinga on sat 3rd goal) struggling to cover the middle of the pitch.

Seems to have had his poor seasons after the major international tournaments. Think maybe as his quotes suggest on the first page, he gets a bit big for his boots and loses his focus/discipline.
