John Stones

Personally think he is trying to live up to all the media hype and for such a young lad that's understandable. He is show boating and needs Jags to pull him into line, for this reason alone I think we've missed Jagielka more than any other, but how good could Besic be?

Barcelona sent a scout to watch John Stones at Stamford Bridge on Saturday as they step up their bid to sign the Everton centre back.

The Spanish champions have been monitoring Stones’s progress since last season and sporting director Roberto Fernandez has received glowing reports.
....

They would likely offer less than Premier League clubs but could offer £35m plus Marc Bartra as a makeweight in the deal.

Tell them to shove it. 35mil and a crap cb pfft.

He is awesome but if we lose him I'm happy as long as the 50mil is spent well.our team can still perform without him.i would be more bothered losing barks or lukaku.especially lukaku as he is pretty much irreplaceable.

£35m plus Marc Bartra, that would be getting close to an acceptable offer.

Happily sell him to Barca for 40m plus a fringe player. Use that money to get a hard as nails, six foot four centre back in, a good goalkeeper and a second striker - we'd be a miles, miles better team for it!

PS isn't Ter Stegen on his way out of Barca as he can't get a game? Him and 30m would be unreal.

Wow, Blues continuing to claim selling our best players is progress.

We should be doing everything as a club and as supporters to maintain our current batch of brilliant young players whilst ridding ourselves of players too old or not good enough.

He handed in a transfer request and we are yet again in 11th place, can you see Stones staying? No one can, so its about getting the best deal to soften the blow. No one wants him sold, people are simply talking about what would represent a good deal from Barca.

On a slightly different note, he's good, he's going to be one of the best central defensive ball playing players of his generation but I do not think it is a given he is ready for Barcelona. He's not going to walk into their first 11 he's still got a lot of development ahead of him.

He's contracted to Everton. He's apparently happy and we have good relations with his management team. No reason for him to leave in the summer and we should resist it as strongly as possible.

But he's contracted a lot longer than this summer and I'd rather build around someone who could turn into the one of best cb's in Europe. I doubt he'd kick up a stink like Berahino or play crap on purpose. Unless we get ter Stegen, Munir, the buy back clause removed and 50m then they can do one. Or 100m straight up and it'd be worth it but the message selling him sends the youth is the opposite I'd like to send. I'd rather "come here to be a part of a project and be given the freedom to play" be the message then "come here to showcase your talents to the to clubs and you'll get a massive move".

Selling our best player won't get us anywhere. Of course £50m could see us getting a few top class players in other positions. Still, weakening one position in our team in order to strengthen in another one isn't really making progress imo. Keeping your top performers/young stars while adding more quality is.
