John Stones... Defender of the North West
that is sort of how I read it. He knows he has been found out but will never admit any responsibility so the statement creates distraction and also somehow encourages people to feel sorry for him. The media will prob do their job and imply there is more to it while reminding us that Mourinho is brilliant in some mannertbh thought it an incredibly mild comeback by Jose's standards and not even objectionable - compared to the digs at benitez's weight or Wenger "specialist in failure" it could almost be considered friendly. Bit unusual as when one manager directly calls him out he often responds with far more enthusiasm to escalate the war of words.
Perhaps we'll hear more from the print media.

I agree I don't he's going either. My post was in reply to the guy who was talking about you and another poster getting completely different meaning from the same articleNot sure what you mean by that but for clarity but I only quoted this part:
"There is nothing to make a decision on. There is no negotiation. There is no relationship between the clubs in terms of trying to find a deal.”
as it confirmed that as far as the manager is concerned there are no negotiations going on behind the scenes. This is a positive and for me it increases the likelihood of the player not being sold.

Probably but tbh their unsettling work has been done unfortunately. Seems their whole strategy has been to get John to hand in a transfer request or at least ask for a move. I know in theory if that happened we can still say no/demand they meet a high valuation (as we did with Baines) but in practice it makes things a whole lot harder.Think he's been told to shut it by the top brass. Taking on a manager in a different league is one thing, continually wading in on the wrong side of a potential tapping up row against a club which has always had good relations and is the general goodie goodie of the premier league just starts to look stupid.
My son stated Chelski will be in the market for a striker, Falco looks poor, and Costa looked like he was running through treacle the other night!
I don't think he is going anywhere this summer.
John Stones has bought into the 5 year plan that Martinez has for achieving CL status along with Lukaku, McCarthy, Coleman, Deulofeu and now Mirallas and many of the senior players.
He will give it at least one more season to see if they can get there., I believe.
He's still got some learning to do and at Everton away from the spotlight is the place to be.
His big dilemma next season will be whether he wishes to stay for Everton's CL campaign or jump ship to someone else's!
As for those saying he will go if the fee is around £30m-£35m are way wrong.
That will be selling him way short of his value.
Let's look at some precedents:
1. Rio Ferdinand went for £30m 12 years ago and Stones is widely regarded as being as good or even better than Rio was.
2. Chelsea got £50m for David Liuz. The same David Luiz who was shown up to be the clown he resembles on the Simpsons.
Yu can't blame Chelsea for accepting the money but the level has been set.
3. Raheem Sterling just went for £49m. overpriced according to many but £49m it was. John Stones will probably end up captaining this lad at international level. He will be the foundation that the flair players like Sterling need to perform at the other end of the pitch.
Based on those figures, I'd say he was worth at least £10m more than Luiz.
Add another £10m for the inconvenience of selling after the season kicks off and you have £70m.
For those who think I'm being unrealistic, John Terry was lauding him a couple of days ago as his natural successor and Rio Ferdinand was saying he could captain Man Utd for a decade.
A decade long international lynchpin for just £7m a season is a bargain in this mad world of football so that's where we should be setting the bar.
No-one will pay that yet but after an impressive season, it won't seem so daft.
Meanwhile though, he is going nowhere this season.
