John Heitinga: Sell me now or I’ll walk for free

Better to sell him now if we can, even if it's only for a couple of mil. No point keeping him on to bleed us dry for wages for another 12 months before going on a free, especially when he clearly doesn't want to be here

We will be lucky to get £3m.

Materazzi was a tit but was at least fairly entertaining and went on to be involved in a world cup defining moment and get a winners medal to boot.
Bilic looked a player but then suddenly contracted a severe case of the "cant be arsed's" which will forever now be known as "a touch of the Heits". Speaking of Heitinga's touch, is it me or does he pack his boots full of concrete? You know similar to how Hagi used to squeeze into boots three sizes to small for extra control - I mention it not because of the extra control Mr Fart pants thought he had but his first touch is usually a pass to the oppo, his tackling was at times from the carragher textbook and the way he mimed running backwards when jogging alongside Benteke was just a marvel if it hadnt been in our shirt.

For my money he got brought in as a bit of a squad filler, capable of slotting into the Carsley role if needed and had excellent credentials to step up if Jagielka hadnt recovered from long term injury (ACL). He could have been a legend this season for the winner in the FA cup at Bolton, but that train didnt stop at our station.

Sadly another in a long list of wastrels - Alexandersson, Bilyaletdinov, Gosling, Bilic, Nyarko. Fine company.

Agreed, who's going to buy him for more on the form he's on. No denying he's a quality player when he wants to be, but they may as well just wait for his contract to expire

That is what he will think as he will get a huge signing on bonus, seems to me this is a plea to keep him in the Dutch squad for Rio.
I'd sink him with the under 9's and have him fester without a sniff of football and purposefully ruin his international chances. But I am a vindictive swine at the best of times.

Vindictive, but fair if he can't be arsed. I have no problem with a **** player who tries to be better, but there's nothing worse than someone who can't be bothered putting the effort in because he's been starting from the bench. It's his performances/attitude that put him there

I really don't get everyone's hate on Heitinga - I accept that footballers these days are naturally spoiled, so can understand frustration of one of the best paid players in club who have an outstanding first season (when he became kind of fans hero as well - you really have a short memory), but is no more than a bench player for manager who brought him if managers favourites are healthy and ready to go. This one actually will be considered as one of the worst 5 Moyes transfers during his Everton tenure and - just like with Billy - it's more fault of the manager than player.

There are (and have been) a few players in an Everton shirt who respond better to a friendly hug rather than a snarl from the manager. Those temperamental sorts who (can) give 100% when they want to but can feel a bit left out. I'm only surmising here but Johnny was not first choice and I'd say from his comments he felt cold-shouldered by Moyes - sometimes benched, sometimes shoved in midfield to make up the numbers (apparently a better choice than some youngster but sometimes because Hibbo was out injured and Neville vacated a midfield position that someone else was less qualified to fill than Johnny - then we got Gibbo for example). Anyways Johnny was probably his own worst enemy - the others who fit into the sulky type have been better managed by Moyes - think Pienaar who can have many a moody off day, especially away from home where he disappears or gets too stuck in when the red mist descends, think Fellaini (again properly managed) and think of the failed experiments like Shandy and Royston. Anyway Johnny definitely was not a 100% all the time guy (like say Sylvain) so we had a few decent performances when he was in the side regularly and not shifted into mid or right centre in Jags absence. Just saying that he always seemed to give his best when he thought he was settled in the side.

Re Duffy I have to say that's part of the hard bit about managing players. Do you dump your 85 times capped Dutch international with all his experience for a 20 year old kid - you have to be 100% sure it's the right thing to do as you can imagine the repercussions (results and team harmony) once you start to doubt the older hands. Fergie, with his massive wallet and top side, had the luxury of moving them on and using these younger players and often, with so many good and great players around them, the kids fitted in. Can't say the same luxury applies to us though can you?

Amazing really.

Going from arguably player of the year two years back to such poor form this past season.
