Joey Yobo on his way?

he's ruled himself out of alot of games for us this season through injury, yet while he's currently injured he's in africa with nigeria preparing for the tournament!

He wont play. They took him because he's on his way back and will probably get a half or he 1 game.

If he plays straight away Moyes will be livid.

Distin was a good buy and experienced. You're Cahill's/Shawcross's etc would'vr cost more....

Distin's not worst or better than Senderos and Upson, although Senderos is younger.

IMO Distin was not a good buy at that price, I have stated that before. Also said should have pushed for Cahill, Shawcross or Upson all are better than Distin.

Our back four next season --- Baines, Jags, Duffy and Coleman.

If we'd gone for any of the three names mentioned instead of Distin we couldn't have bought Heitinga and Bily as well. Distin wasn't the main problem at the start of the season. The Chief forgot how to head the ball for starters.

Possibly a load of pooh but it is in the media anyway

Everton: Defender's uncertain future - ClubCall.com

TBH he will struggle to get back in the side at the moment so there could be an element of truth in this report
I'm not dissing you man, by the way Happy New Year, but clubcall? clubcall? You think they've got the drop on real inside news? Have our source for transfer gossip slipped to such a desperate low? Almost as bad a source as Teamtalk and the Daily Mirror.

At least its better than "my mate was talking to his mate who heard from the cat across the road.."

Can I award this rumour :pint:only because I coudn't find a half pint. Anything else might earn me an infraction.

Distin has about 4 years left in him, hes only 32 and for a centre half thats relatively young. The price was probably a bit high but IMO moyes wanted to bring in one of the other young centre halfs(cahill, shawcross, wheater etc.) but he was put off by prices around the 10 million mark and needed to spread the lescott money around the squad a bit more. I think distin will do a fine back up job for us for a few years yet.

Don't get too pissed BT, the thread did carry a health warning mate(y)

I like him but were in a position as a club where we have to sell to generate sufficient funds for Moyes so would depend in the price as he wouldn't be in my top three centre halves at the club when fit. As well pointed out, Duffy's development may be influential.

Been a great servant has Joe and as its from clubcall he's likely to remain so.

Yobo's done well with Everton.

No reason to sell him at this point. Even with Jags and Distin back fit, Yobo will continue to play his part.

With it now being meltseason and there being loads of jarg rumours about, can we rate the rumours? Make up a scale like.

Defo.
Could be like.
Don't know you know.
Not having that.
Do one lad.

Saves us having to do essays on snide rumours like I've just done on Yobo who's clearly off to Real.

Yobo will be given the Long ball out of the ground,Sad but lets come to terms with it,He is not good enought if want to move on.Every time he gets the ball my Ars* twitches

I think its clear that Moyes will be looking around for young CBs. Yobo would possibly be the one we get money for. Hes not the best, but hes done us proud and on his day he is great.

Depends on many factors really.

I read somewhere that Matthew Kilgallon of Sheff Utd was being lined up as Joey's understudy/replacement

He would only cost one or two mil as well, hard as nails although his distribution isn't that good, so what we've coped with that for years:D

I'm sure he's a nice feller and all, but Yobo is poison to good football. His first thought is to belt it long. It's embarrassing watching us when he's in the team. I'd get rid of him for any money on offer or a swap deal. This is an area we're well boxed off in: Jagielka and Distin to come back; decent makeshift CBs in Heitinga and Neil; two young kids who show great promise in Duffy and Mustafa.
