First time I've been genuinely against Martinez. All the times he started Kone on the wing, or Naismith on the wing, or refused to drop Barry were annoying and questionable, but I was fine with accepting them.

After a performance like that and taking into account the fact that he was dropped after a string of impressive performances last year, this is a disgraceful decision from Martinez if it turns out to be true.

I can only assume he's intimidated by Howard's personality in the dressing room. In that case, I'm seriously worried about our manager's bottle, or lack of it

in what way did he 'keep us in the cup'?
He stopped a couple of shots on his line that Howard could have dealt with, and was only stopped from blowing our chances in the shootout by Norwich's inability to watch last years shoot out with West Ham.

Joel can't do penalties, he dive well before the ball is struck. Against West am they ended up just waiting until he was out of the way, then rolled it in the other side. Tonight we were only saved be the fact Hooligan saw him diving one way, then still proceeded to kick it to that side for some reason, that and the other melt ballooned it over the top.

Joel wasn't terrible, he made some good saves, in fact he made a couple of pretty damn decent ones as well, but he's not the Second Coming of Christ no matter how much you all hate Howard. Howard makes similar saves every week but gets persecuted for his failings in a way that Joel doesn't.

Sorry if you all think this is a bit harsh, especially tonight having just scraped through on pens against Norwich (and he DID play well), but its the truth.

i'm not even going to bother reading that. i read the first question and knew the rest would be crap.

Fantastic tonight. Norwich could have had a couple more. Commanded his box and made the pen save.

Stones seemed frustrated though at how long it took him to get the ball out of his hands and at goal kicks.

“The power of the Gwladys Street was in our favour tonight,” said Martínez. “I trust Joel 100 per cent, but nothing changes [in terms of the No 1]. Tim Howard has incredible standards. There is no doubt Tim will start at the weekend.”

Something isn't right, that's for sure. No manager in his right mind would drop Joel after showing so much promise and especially not for Howard after showing so much crap.

I hope that those knocking Robles for not being good enough will now belt up.

Martinez is playing a dangerous game. If Taleban Tim is selected and screws up - quite likely with the pressure he will now be feeling - then the knives will be out for the manager. I don't have a knife but I have a sharp pencil...
