He sat on the bench for all but the FA Cup win. You may as well say we should sign Roger Espinoza to replace Leighton Baines if you're going off honours won, so you can't be serious.
Yep, he's been fat for a while now, that's why his form dipped and why they're desperate to fawn him off to anyone instead of having him as back-up.
Reina has always been vastly overrated for me. Good goalkeeper definitely, or at least used to be, but I've always reckoned Howard is better. If you said that to a kopite though they'd look at you like you'd said you eat the gurkins of McDonalds burgers.

Howard's done nothing to loose his place to be fair, but he invariably will, I think Joel with his pedigree will warrant an opportunity at some point and may well take it, as pointed out he comes from a background of winning squads and Martinez rates him highly, I don't think he was brought in for second fiddle permanently!
So I guess I can be serious!
To answer the underlying question, Howard's form has been very good - fair play, do I rate him highly - not at all!

He will with age, surely. At which point Joel will step in. I just don't think he's deserving of an opportunity while Howard's arguably at his peak.
I don't rate Howard never have, but I think young players have to take the opportunity, it's Howard's to loose, but I feel Joel will get over 20 appearances this season so I think Howard may have a real battle on his hands to hold on to it - more so then last season. Rightly whoever is the best gets the shirt. I'll say this though, the last time Martinez put his faith in Robles he justified it and with Silverware! I rated AL Habsi as a keeper as well, defo type 5 in the league up until the year they got relegated!

Nothing was to stop De Gea's progress, though, and at 14, he was invited into Atletico's academy, La Cantera. He battled with Joel Robles, now of Everton, for a starting position.
Hopefully Joel too can put a slighly shaky start at the club behind him and go on to impress.

Robles wont get game time at Everton and shouldn't while we have Howard. If he is happy to sit on the bench and do nothing i think that says a lot about him, he should be pushing to go out on loan.
