Neuer, the best keeper in the world, has a 25% penalty save rate, which is good as the average is about 15% iirc.

If it was as predictable as you say about penalty takers going to a favoured area both those stats would be much higher.

Alrighty mate, so thank [Poor language removed] we won't play against Ronaldo or Messi (or Baines! lol ) or any of those great players, as they put them easily wherever they want. Sure some players have preferred corners/whatever to take, but you, as a taker, have to predict which way the goalie's diving too - so the taker's also making a guess. And it's not as if it's the same situation to take a penalty in regular time and in the penalty shoot out.

Both guess. There's plenty of keepers there that claim they look at knees or stance or eyes or face or whatever when they are against one, but in reality it's utter tosh - it's as random as it can get. Plus everyone knows that now so they all either stand neutral or take their damn time with it.

Also what if Nolan or whoever decided to do a Cahill in the FA Cup Semi a few years ago and just blast it towards goal not in a direction (pretty much what Joel did btw) - then what? Easy to prepare for that innit?

Best I've seen Spanish southall play for us, kept us in the game but then lost it for us haha. Everton. He might of just had a blinder or be showing what he can really do, who knows?

The lad is clearly growing in confidence with every game he plays. Don't get a keeper in in January. Leave Robles between the sticks and let him show that he deserves his spot until the end of the season. If not, get a replacement in during the summer.

Made up for the lad as any blue should be, the way people on here want our players to fail is absurd. Like any keeper, give him a run of games and he's going to get more confident and show what he'a all about, the way people judged him on the odd cup game was outrageous. He's clearly a good player and improving with every game. No way back for Tim Howard for me, Tim wouldn't have put in a performance like that tonight

First time he really hasn't hesitated, he's came out and caught the ball, was loud and barking instructions, really starting to look confident.

He was still Pretty poor for the first goal. No need to come out off his line. I'd of expected a top keeper to have done better there. Mucha had the odd good games remember.

Rumoured were looking at Westwood? Not sure he's much better than Robles if at all. Both are Number 2's at a club like ours IMO.

Just needed to make himself big really , other than that I thought he played well. Still think we need a keeper , signing a new keeper may bring out the best of him.
