I agree. But I think what the supporters mean by a marquee signing, yes it is a quality player that improves the first team no end, but also a signing that makes other clubs and media recognise that 'Everton mean business' and are back!!!

I would also add, a player that can be used to attract other players a la Lukaku & Bolasie

We know that anyrate. Not arsed what others think.

Would rather beat them on the pitch with an ace side than announce some massive name and he turns out crap.

Said in another thread, the new players have all mentioned the prospect of playing under and learning from koeman as a lure to come to the club. Maybe we have just underestimated just how influential koeman is and only focused on the wages we can offer.

Marquees are crap in the rain, we want players that can shine all weathers.

The media will notice only when we start performing on the pitch, infact ive noticed a change from most of the media, they are starting to realise we are the real deal, hell if spending 25m on Bolasie isnt a statement of intent I dont know what is.

Just wait till we build a space station on the docks, but before that, im still confident we will do lots more business and should push most teams very hard on the pitch.

Never wanted a window to close as much as this 1, honestly I just want it all to be over.

Of course it's all about the team and not individual players. I'm 100 % confident that RK and SW exactly know who and what they want. Maybe we won't get that marquee signing, but signing a Mata, Carvalho or even Hart would see our rivals taking notice.

Either way, whatever happens, I'm confident that Everton really are back. It might take a few years, but we'll get there eventually.

By the sounds of it, that new stadium and its location will be the envy of the football world not just the RS. All the fuss made of West Ham in the horrible stadium, and compare it to what Everton could potentially have!!!

I still don't see the value for either party if we get him on loan. Got to be a perm move in my opnion

Player probably doesnt want to commit himself to a none European / CL team long term - so gives him a season to see if we can get there, gets a possible dressing room problem out of city, and hart gets to show hes stil top class in case he wants to move to a team that does get CL (if we dont)

Yeah I hear you, and tend to agree. But from both clubs point of you, a loan seeks risky. Risky for us as we'd struggle to keep him if he does tear it up. It's just another position next summer that has question marks surrounding it either way. Risky for them if he has a stinker, he's then a year older, with an even further reduced stock. I agree a loan probably suits him though

They are fairly handy in the rain but wind - no use at all. Keeping with the analogy you want don't want a fair weather marquee signing for your Tuesday visits to Stoke on a windy day :)

Benefit for us on a loan is if he stinks the gaff up we aren't saddled with 120k wages and a 30m waste on fee, plus we can drop him and go with stek, which couldn't see happening if we bought him.
