willy cabellero is about that standard though right?
Good point that though. If Hart is not better than Cabellero, he's not a lot better than Stek & Robles. i think either we depend on some good old fashioned coaching and motivation to improve Stek & Joel, or move on from Joe Hart and try and land a Tom Heaton type gk

Depends on your POV

Caballero had been a 1st choice keeper for over a decade until he came to Man City. Pellegrini signed him because he had been his number 1 at Malaga. Don't think being behind Hart is a huge slur on anyone.

Joel has never been a 1st choice keeper in his career, save for the last couple of months of last season. Couldn't get in the team ahead of Tim chuffing Howard for a long time (accept Bobby's share of the blame here).

Stekelenberg had a good career as Ajax, Roma and Holland's number 1. His career has come to a huge stuttering phase since he came to England in 2013, injury and poor form have meant he has spent 3 years as a 2nd choice keeper. Behind Forster at Soton, couldn't even get in the Fulham team.

Stek has impressed in his two games so far but I'm not going to go jumping up and down saying he is the number one we've been missing based on that.

Everton's chances of luring Joe Hart to Goodison could be boosted by Barcelona completing a deal for another former Blues target.

The chain of transfers necessary to leave Hart free to find a new club would start with the Nou Camp giants tying-up the signing of Ajax shot-stopper Jasper Cillesen, who Everton were linked with earlier this summer.

Barca technical secretary Robert Fernandez confirmed yesterday that they are waiting to secure that deal before allowing City to complete the capture of Claudio Bravo.

The bit about Joel in that article is interesting - koeman is ruthless!!

I hope hart does come on loan, a proven winner in the dressing room for a year as well

I also can see us fans getting into the Chelski mentality someone mentioned above of just buying expensive players just cos we can. Bargains and unknown players who come good are still worth a lot of money, so we can use our new wealth to try and actually find 2 - 3 Arteta, Cahill, Jags, Baines type players who come good and play really well even though they're not #40 million

I'd like to see us go get forster or butland then let saints or stoke get hart.
If the money is there to buy Hart then this x10. Buy Forster or Butland - or if we cannot let one of them save the keeper money, play Steks and buy the other things we need....like CB, cm, st....

If Hart is a loan then that is another thing entirely.

To be fair, i think our signings and potential signings all look fairly structured. They seem to fit a plan. Chelsea did that to start with under abramovic, but now, with people like falcao and pato they just chuck money at a name it seems.

Only Everton supporters could be moaning at the prospect of England's no.1 goalkeeper coming to the club. Only at Xmas we had Howard/Robles 'fighting' to be no.1. If you had said back then we'd be in a position to get hart on loan or permanently, you'd have been laughed off the site. Joe hart is a significant upgrade on the quality of goalkeeper we've had in recent years and stek (although only early days) is a significant upgrade on no. 2.

Its not like we have spent big money mate, I'm sure Steve Walsh will be looking for the right players and I doubt they're all big money.
