Literally nothing is saving 2020 at this point. Even Biden winning means we STILL have 2.5 more months of Trump. This is the worst fn year I can remember.

Biden would be only the second Catholic to become POTUS (and it did not end well for the first, as we know). Will his religion count against him in the election? Or would reaction against it be limited to the Bible belt psychos?

Doubt it will be a huge problem. Firstly, I’d say that I’m more tuned in to politics here than the majority of Americans, and I actually had no idea he was Catholic. Secondly, anyone for whom his Catholicism would be problematic (Bible Belt psychos, as you accurately described) is probably voting for Trump anyway.

Aren’t you from LA or TX? The parts of the South that weren’t heavily colonized by France and Spain are very much not Catholic. It’s heavily Southern Baptist here. The kind of fire and brimstone lunatics who don’t always necessarily even think of Catholics as being Christians.
