And we have spent the last few years with a lot of Americans, on all sides of the political aisle, fed up with the role and the costs both in personnel and monetary it has incurred for very questionable outcomes.

And on that note I'll leave you to your fuming as I need to finish my taxes as you seem keen on them being spent.
Pete fails to acknowledge that when the UK was the "world police" they destroyed cultures, enslaved millions of people and brought disease and misery to the world.

I agreed with Trump that Europe was living on the back of the USA in respect of defence. Maybe it will now change, but somehow I don’t really believe it will.

Enjoy doing your taxes…..

Don't bother. His replies are always the same. They go on the line of your haven't argued properly or debating isn't for you or as above you haven't debated at all.

Mad thing is he never see the fecking irony in those statements

Or he will tell you about his glorious history and that's why his points are always valid.

You two will get on famously, fatuous and none contributing……

Point proven.

Good man, you never fail to always comeback with the same insults.

Must be nice in your ivory tower.

As always like to take a pop at my intelligence and then claim I'm being disrespectful.

Then you wonder why I am hostile to you.

You know it stems from you trying to literally educate me on something i have made the majority of my wealth from. Something you said several years back. After that I knew no matter what I would say to you even when correct you would.always come back with the same stupid sh**

Hence your disparaging responses to folk who get tired of your bs.

Many others have been banned for the same crap you spout.

You don't care what people have to say as long as you get you old man nonsense across. You can't looknpast your own tired views and accept others. Hence you come back with childish your not as smart as me sh*te

Anyway why not go drink your profits and leave American affairs to those they actually matter too.

All empires are the same, British were not unique in doing [Poor language removed], look what Belgium done in Congo, French in Algeria, Spain all over the place.

Even here on the continent my country (Croatia) was part of Habsburg/Austrian Empire (same as Czechs, Poles, Italians, Romanians, Hungarians and many others) for 400 years, and that empire was nicknamed "Prison of Nations", and not cause of its good deeds

Exactly, imagine a British person trying to claim the moral high ground.

SOTU bumps don't last. Biden's approval situation probably gets worse before it gets better. He's in the same box Reagan was in early in 1982. The employment numbers just look better because of all of the people that left the workforce.

I wouldn't be surprised if Biden ends up on the same trajectory - gets pasted in November, then pulls it all back in the House with interest in 2024. His broader problem is that the Democrats are defending a bunch of tough Senate seats this cycle, and the Republicans are defending a bunch of very safe ones in 2024.

It's not just Biden's problem, it's the same issue with virtually every first-term POTUS in the midterms as well as any Dem POTUS given the structural imbalance inherent in the US Senate.

Thanks for jumping in and distracting a bit from the inanities of a pissed @peteblue.

You're correct about the systemic issues, but Biden's situation does strongly resemble Reagan's at the same point in time. Controlling inflation will probably result in some economic pullback. Biden is likely to get blamed for that, then get the credit for when the systematic issues driving the inflation resolve themselves and the economy rebounds.

This is stupid, since he controls neither, but decades of American public opinion and voting research say that's how it works. Polarization is likely to mute the effects in both directions somewhat, relative to Reagan.

Labor participation rate is improving though - still not to pre-pandemic levels but recovering better than I expected tbh although childcare still seems an issue.

Wage growth not keeping up with inflation would be the vulnerable bit from the latest report, going to be exacerbated by price rises due to Ukraine as well.

Yep looks like a pasting in November, will need Pete’s crystal ball to make ny statement past that ;)
