Not really. If you think Biden is doing a great job then fair enough. I just think he’s made a complete arse of it……

For Ukraine, yes I think he is doing a pretty decent job so far. After a slow start there are very strong sanctions in place and diplomatically a united NATO front. I don’t think these sanctions could have been implemented prior to the invasion, Germany and Italy in particular were very resistant.

I think your other solution of “exercising” would have been an absolute pr goldmine to Putin and created conditions for a horrendous direct confrontation between two nuclear powers that could have rapidly made a bad situation even worse.

However if either was such a great idea why didn’t Johnson do them - post Brexit UK isn’t constricted by Europe any more is it? So I look forward to you making similar complaints in the Johnson thread.

Trump would have rolled over and kissed putins arse and would let him do what he wants. He is literally on fox news everyday praising Putin.

Despite the American people and most everyone in congress and the senate not wanting to engage in war.

Biden if you had taken time to listen to his speeches has echoed that.

You clearly are a wind up merchant if you believe Biden has been terrible.

I don’t have access to your crystal ball/alternate time machine Pete so I don’t have evidence of that but if you could tell me what lottery numbers to use this week it would be helpful.

I‘m sorry, but you have given up your objectivity to follow some political line. The man is a disgrace and so is his VP….

None of that is true, pete.

We need all our leaders in the West and the free world to step up right now; this could potentially be much wider than Ukraine and things could deteriorate quickly.

So far, for his faults Biden has strengthened NATO in Europe with thousands of US troops and worked together to get a position the west can all agree on to try and restore peace.

Johnson needs to do this too (and has done some of it), but more importantly he has to reverse those defence cuts (at a minimum, I’d much prefer for him to use the crisis to radically reform the MoD so we aren’t getting screwed so much on housing and procurement and instead using the money for a much bigger army and RAF).

No need. He didn’t. A cursory examination of the facts will show that it is Putin who brought us to this position. You may argue that had the west acted differently in the past twenty or so years the situation may be different but that would be down to a number of individuals of various nationalities. Of course, that would simply be speculation.
Why you are already trying to find someone to carry the can while the situation is so fluid I cannot think.

Putin was going to.do.this regardless of who was in charge here. Nearly everyone in the intelligence community has said this. Putin knows America and Britain will stand by and let him. Do be so fecking ignorant to think sanctions would would ahead of time. They are not even working now. Have they pulled back yet no.

You want to lay blame on one man. Why don't Britain and every other nato member stand up to him then.

I'll say it again. The people here, both congress and the senate here and the intelligence community here don't want war. Simple as that.

Americans have made it clear they think he is doing good domestically and that they don't want to goto war. Simple as that.

People here don't want oil and gas prices to go up either. Not that I agree with them as.who cares if it means putting putin in his box.

Any kind of forceful defence of Ukraine would have put Putin off. He has become used to getting his own way, even not telling his own cabinet what he was up to. The West has looked weak, and Putin only understands strength ….
