Current Affairs Joe Biden POTUS #46

It’s so refreshing to have a US President thread that doesn’t get bumped for nearly a month, and when it does it’s for a serious article rather than him saying something crazy.
Yep. Six months into his presidency, and my favorite thing about Biden remains that most days, I have absolutely no idea what he did that day. Not turning on the TV every night to find out if the President has walked us to the precipice of Armageddon that day is very refreshing.

Saw a Biden speech yesterday, where he had to spend 30 minutes basically making the case for democracy and respecting the election process and institutions.

I worry there’s some further big problems down the road for the US, when the President is pleading with half the country to accept democracy as the best political option.

I wonder how Cuba would perform if the most powerful country on earth didn't have a brutal blockade against them.

Maybe Cuba need another USA backed dictator?

I remember crawling through a database of Congressional votes as a research assistant years ago, and encountering the legislation that was Boxer-Helms.

I asked myself, "What on Earth could possibly prompt that unholy alliance?" The answer was Cuba.

Turning Cuba into a failed state is a cornerstone of U.S. foreign policy.

Biden's deadly mishandling of Afghanistan is causing a narrative-shift in the normally pro-Joe establishment media. Also of note is how his press conferences are beginning to frustrate the press. Here for example at 24:14 after NPR ask a question Biden unwittingly reveals he was expecting a different pre-prepared question (for which he thus had a pre-prepared answer): "i thought the question was..." - after a rambling response he ends the presser without answering any further questions.

He's not gonna last the full term.

He is a disgrace of a president. He hasn’t a clue what is going on and he should be removed from office before he causes further harm to the world. God only knows what the Taiwanese are thinking. Trump was a pillock but this guy now makes Trump look like Kennedy…the damage he has done to America’s reputation and standing, both in the world and more importantly with its key allies is staggering. I’ve never seen anything like the HoC on Wednesday and the absolute condemnation of an American President by all sides. He has to go and go soon…..

Biden will be impeached for his handling of Afghanistan. And the difference to Trump's impeachments is that there'll be enough votes to force him out.

Kamala has been a weak barely-there presence as VP. If she won't then step up we can expect a big mid-terms swing for Trump-backed Republicans.

The crucial anyone-but-Trump vote won't be that plentiful after two years of Biden/Harris.

Yeah…that was bad. I suspect he’s mostly a puppet at this point. Everything is scripted by those behind the curtain as he clearly can’t digest and communicate what’s actually happening. It was a strategy to use Joe to get Trump out. Mission accomplished. But in his current state, there’s a chance the Democrats lose ground in the midterms and then lose the white house in 2024. Id be shocked if he wasn’t stepping down for health reasons by the end of next year.

Good post, tho' i'd say it was more a combination of incessant anti-Trump media sentiment with what Time Magazine infamously called election fortification (doublespeak for legal cheating) is what got Trump out. Almost any Dem candidate would've won, except ironically the unlikeable Kamala.

They went for Joe as due to his 47-year swamp nature (deep in corruption...10% for the big guy etc) and his obvious senility he was deemed easiest to control, as evidenced by his often telling us variations of "i'm not sure if i'm supposed to say this".

When in trouble, he simply resorts to blaming Trump. How much longer this strategy will be effective remains to be seen, what with Trump being proved right and all...

Biden's mental unsuitability for the top job was already an open joke back in 2014, even amongst his own people:

Stunning that he won in 2020...
