I suppose my fear is that it's akin to cutting off the hydras head. Another one will simply grow back. The media aren't renowned for their scruples, and if a sufficiently large community lap up particular types of content, then someone somewhere in the media will pander to that, unless the content is so offensive as to destroy their credibility completely. Clarkson and his ilk probably sit just on that line.
The stuff that he comes out with would be followed. It'll find a home somewhere and will get an audience. If it has to be broadcast though, it has to find its level and niche market...one of those hundreds of channels you have on your subscription that you coast over and that caters to people who enjoy watching slug racing and Arkansas possom cooking or some such nonsense. Certainly not prime time slots with the national broadcaster.

Don't knock it until you've seen it mate

That's where I think bringing Coogan would work. He's quick enough to handle interviews and all the scripted 'banter' would be a lot less tired and predictable.

Didn't his brother Brendan present Top Gear before he was done for drink/driving years ago ? Think Steve might think himself above the likes of the show now given his political campaigning for Hacked Off and his preoccupation with films. Pity, as the asides would Im sure be vintage Partridgesque

Hammond and May will follow him to whichever station ends up taking on Clarkson and they'll continue the show under a new guise elsewhere.

The Beeb version is a dead duck, it'll be a husk of the programme it was with 3 new faces.

If he did physically assault a staff member then the Beeb had no choice but to get rid, but they've cost themselves circa £50m p.a. in doing the right thing.

would be a backwards step for both Klingons to move to Sky, their viability will decrease and they wouldn't get the opportunities they are currently hoovering up at the Beeb.
Plus it's always been a bone of contention that they don't get paid as much as Clarkson.

Its a good thing getting new faces in, maybe some new ideas. Topgears been dire for a few years now, same challenges, same jokes, presenters becoming bigger nobheads as the seasons go by

Really? Wouldnt be much of a programme for them to present if he hadnt reinvented it. But Top Gear has been a bit boring for the last few series imo anyrate.

And when I heard the full story, the BBC had no choice.

Laughable how Daily Star readers are all kicking off over him finally getting booted off the BBC. If the Tories had it their way then smacking an employee around because he won't fetch you some food would be perfectly fine and complaining about it would be a sackable offence.
