This whole real fan thing is overstated, imo.
If we were non league, we suffered four relegations in a row and were playing conference sides then we'd lose a lot of fans, it's a truth.
Does that mean that everyone of our fans who watches us as a top 6 club in the top divison and occasionally in europe and cup finals but wouldn't watch us in the conference or have even heard of us if were in the conference is not a real fan?
We're a big club, the fourth most successful historically and probably the 7th most successful in modern times and we get fans on here like Mikey and Bigmac who have a soft spot for a non league local team like stockprot or newport but support everton because they're their big club. And we have a bunch of foreign fans who picked everton as their prem team, not their english team, their prem team.
If this was a tranmere forum, half of us would be written off as plastic and glory supporters.
But we do this thing where we draw these lines, so the fans and money we've collected by being this successful and the fees and wages we pay because of that (15 million and 75k a week for felli) that's all authentic and real or fine.
But if we get any more successful and start paying 35 millino and 100k a week and get 6 million foreign fans rather than 300,000 well that's bad and selling our soul. It just seems completely arbitary
