2025/26 Jarrad Branthwaite

Probably both, he's at a critical time in his career. If he manages 1 injury free season I'd be tempted to cash in if we got a big offer, as I'm not convinced he can handle multiple seasons in the Premier League.
He's young, he plays the game at his own speed, his football brain is another level from what is around him.
fit the right profile players around him in the backline and his football intelligence will carry him further.

That's positive surely ?

….it is but I’d be concerned that it’s the same muscle. They never initially chose to operate on the first injury but had to in the end and I just hope they don’t give him the summer to rest only for it to ‘pop’ again early next season.

Seems more ‘fingers crossed and hope’ to me but I’ve long warned that once they start, hamstring injuries will often repeat through an entire career. The poor lad was totally distraught leaving the pitch and I suspect he’s still really down now.

We're very careful around comms with him and injuries - definitely a different approach nowadays to 'assets'. The unrelated to previous injury isn't a coincidence. Neither was the comms around managing his minutes when speculation around why he didnt travel. Sensible, wonder if its from new owners or his agent.
“Honestly he’s fine. Get in early for a 20% discount”

It's good that Jazzles doesn't require surgery but this needs to be last chance saloon for him with us now.

He's now got over three full months to get fully fit and ready to start next season.

Given he doesn't need an op, that's loads of time to fix the problem once and for all.

He should be available for pre-season games, at least a few towards the end of the schedule, then ready to start on matchday one.

If he breaks down again, it's time to look to move him on. Would be extremely difficult as you have to assume his new contract put him amongst our highest earners and no club will go near that if he suffers another injury.

Positive news, much needed after half of this thread had him down as the Cumbrian Yerry Mina.

Jarrad is miles better than Yerry, btw. And Yerry was boss.

Id like the club to review how we have managed his injuries, he's come back, broken down, come back, broken down, come back broken down again.

Its been like that since before the season started - he prob didn't get much of a preseason either.

Hopefully get him right and het a proper preseason in to him.

Yeah how did we ever come to that conclusion.

Absolutely gutted for the lad , i really rate him he's a class act.
But lets not write him off as a few on here are doing.

He reminds of John Stones & Jonathan Woodgate , both fantastic Centre half's and both struggled with injuries throughout their career's.
Yet Woodgate managed over 350 appearances and Stones over 400 and still in the game.

He'll have to be managed that much is obvious but theres no reason he cant go on to have a similar career , hopefully with us.

We also had DCL filed here and he’s more or less fine now, not missed a game injured all season. Even Gbamin himself, full season in Ligue 1 this year injury free. “Broken” players are pretty rare and most just need time, JB has plenty of time on his side.
Doesn't say a lot for our medical team though does it. Whatever the reason there seems to be a genuine issue with keeping some players fit. I'm sure every teams fans would probably point to players like that in their squads but we always seem to have one.

Honestly, if I was Branthwaite I'd be looking to move on, ideally to Spain where it's warmer with less games and intensity. Would probably suit us as well if we could get an ok fee for him. I'd be really sad to see him go as I think he's ace but I really don't see him staying fit for an extended period.
