January Transfer Window 2026

This needs to stop being a thing real quick. We paid that for Barry, who was 22, and it was bad money. Age shouldn’t dictate whether a fee is decent or not. We can’t go back to just spaffing money on players.

£30m is what you pay for attacking potential now.

A top striker is £70m now. Thats not even with them being proven in the league.

it wasnt everton spaffing money on potential that got us into money problems it was buying "established players" on big wages that knackered us.

Now we cant afford established players so all we've got left is to either buy rejects off top clubs or buy potential.

Maybe if we gave the potential were bringing in more then 10 starts in the league before we write them off as completely crap. The fan base might stop having mental breakdowns every 5 minutes.

I would like Guela Doue as a long-term RB get a LOT btw. He's a fantastic defender, a good passer and a good size. Can play as a CB too so would enable the option for a back three which is useful. Bit more conservative positionally but that works if we're planning on having a very attacking left back (Aznou, whether or not he comes good for us, points to that being the case).

If he's available and we pass him up because we want a 'proven premier league performer' I will scream

Potential link to Ricardo Pepi from PSV. The 22 year old american striker has had 7 goals in 14 games in the eredivisie so far this season and we have been linked along with Fulham. It is rumoured that PSV want £30m for him, having already turned down a bid of £26m from Fulham. This could just be agent talk to try and get Fulham to increase their bid.

He looks decent in the dutch league, but its hard to judge if that will translate to the the premier league. he looks quick, good touch and decent in and around the box. In todays market, for a 22 year old, £30m is not bad money.

Is he any different than that Troy Parrott tho for goals and age,
And this lad is at PSV.

Not a great league to go with stats.

Theres no right or wrong in terms of established, young, inexperienced etc.
Does the manager like/want them to play is the main thing we all need to think about

We have bought all sorts this summer to varying degrees of success

Grealish & Dewsbury Hall are what you would put in the bracket of 'rejects from big clubs' both been seen as a success

Dibling & Aznou seen as potential....Dibling starting to show now given a chance, Aznou obviously not ready for the manager (thats ok)

Loan of Rohl and Barry with no PL experience.........both struggled, hopefully come good, might not though

So we got 2 rejects in and they have been our biggest success

If we are getting a right back, definitely would be looking for someone of the Daniel Munoz archetype. Someone who can maraud down the wing I think and more offensive minded would be much better than someone who is the opposite, we already have a solid defensive record we need a more attaching threat.

Yeah they’ve used the word prolific in the article but 7 goals in 14 games in that league probably equates to 1 or 2 out of 14 in our league.

Exactly mate !!

It's not one or the other, it's a blend.

If anything Parrott would be more likely to settle than the PSV guy

I havent seen much of either of them apart from Parrott banging them in for Ireland though.

I'd imagine Moyes wouldn't want another 'could be good, but doesn't guarantee goals at PL level' striker like we have in Barry.

I think he would probably much prefer a loan like Toney or Dovbyk

good chance we can go 5th with a win over brentford. chelsea away to city, united away at in form leeds and calvert lewin (will be a bear pit there) and sunderland away to spurs

then playing wolves three days later and an fa cup break means we could still be there coming late into jan

i think tfg could be cautious with funds because relegation isnt a threat, but being in that position could trigger them to release some serious funds to go and get europe

If they don't they have little ambition and midtable is their ambition
