January Transfer Window 2026

….dare I say it, maybe a few positive signs from Barry in respect of his all around play. It would be good to have another option but the summer window might actually turn out ok (despite me being one of the ones suggesting otherwise).

I feel we’re fine in CM areas, especially with Armstrong available (probably next season) and on the wing. Clearly the major issue is at full-back and more significantly at RB.

His movement and finish for his goal was really good. He just needs to get some consistency and be more physical Eggs.

Get Beto swapped for another striker is an obvious shout. However the fact that we play a pretty rigid formation and only 1 striker, it’s hard to imagine many are going to want to come to play 2nd fiddle to Barry.

I would love it if we get Grealish on a permanent deal this summer. I agree there is a risk in signing aging players but Jack simply has a surplus of quality compaired to most others in the squad. Just get a good LB and he will prosper even more. And the guy seems to understand the Everton-spirit. He has heart.

But even more important signing someone like Grealish is the statement of intent. If all the rumors/messages are true, we were turned down by quite some players last summer. Sadly we have fallen down the pecking order because of the last few seasons. Signing one or two bigname players might attract younger promising players, who otherwise wouldn't be interested.

We just have to make sure we don't overpay to get mediocre players in. No more Klaassen, Tosun, Iwobi, Beto, Gbamin etc etc.

"Signing one or two bigname players might attract younger promising players, who otherwise wouldn't be interested".

I'd actually say that signing one or two more Dibling's would attract that age bracket, high potential players.

Im sure a young English player may think "I'll be in the squad with 30 year old Jack Grealish". But to lock them into a 5 year deal, is that enough?

If we can develop Armstrong and Dibling into top players then it will be a showcase for the best English talent.

Look at Arsenal. Myles-Skelly and Nwaneri were flying last season and now they're subs on a good day.

I bet those two would love to get regular games for us. I'm sure they know Dibling and Armstrong and would be in our 11 very quickly due to their quality.

Rather than signing big top players, we could also go after the future top English players and build our core.

But we aren’t signing Nwaneri or Lewis-Skelly

He’s starting to come deeper looking for the ball and getting involved in starting moves like for his goal last night. I typically don’t love that in a striker but it seems more part of his natural game based on what I saw of his highlight vids before he joined.

I wouldn’t put the house on him being our first choice for years to come at this stage, but I’d rather keep him round as a squad option than Beto.

If we wanted a proper Moyes striker then I maintain we should sniff around Strand Larsen from Wolves, although I don’t imagine that’s worth doing until the summer when relegation is confirmed.
Strand Larsen has been dropped by wolves, he's been booed by his own fans in recent times. Don't know if he's the most dynamic player in the world either. Bit of a risk that one mate.

I think anyone coming in would fancy their chances of getting the place personally.

If you are a professional striker, you should be backing yourself to get more than 2 goals in half a season. Hopefully that is the case and hopefully Barry takes the confidence and smashes 10 in the second half of the season so we finally have two legitimate options to choose from

Have you ever heard of a particular word, 'example'. I suggest you google it.

This obnoxious utterly meaningless posting style of yours hopefully ends in 2025.

Zat, you’re quite a prickly and unsavoury character, I wouldn’t bother asking someone else to change their posting style.

Hide your delusions and start naming realistic players/scenarios.

What's the correlation with your post and my response to the post about attracting young players?

None.
The correlation is that filling the squad full of u21 level players is not a viable option for us Zat. It's ok having 1 or 2 but you want 4/5/6 and that's just never going to happen. Its taken half a season for the manager too play Dibling, we are just not that club. We can buy younger players who have had a bit of experience in the game in the 21-23 range, get a few years out of them and then sell them at their peak age.
