January Transfer Window 2026

They wouldn’t be selling him for £20m in the summer though.
Fair, that's probably an outdated assumption on my part. If we coughed up ~£40m for a young talent in Dibling, then an older striker who has yet to prove himself in terms of goals is probably more a £30m punt. Still, I wouldn't expect anyone to be paying anywhere near £50m in the Summer.

They just saw what Palace were getting for Mateta and added a little January Desperation Tax.

Joe Thomas will be getting his tough questions ready for Moyes at his press conference. Like why wasn’t Asnou brought on at wing back, why was Armstrong played out of position, what was the game plan in the first half. Why is the home form so bad, are you concerned with the fans constantly booing at home. Why do you keep starting McNeil.
I think it will more on the lines of “ Do you prefer coffee or tea?”

Well this is a perfect example, we paid £40m for a teenager who’d essentially done nothing, from a team that had just been relegated. Strand Larsen would’ve gone for at least that amount as a centre forward who already had a double figure season behind him in the Premier League. There’s no less value in January than there is in the summer window, it’s a lazy excuse for the recruitment team to not bother doing anything for 10 months of the year.

When people say there is no value in Jan, this is exactly what they're talking about. I would have been up for us taking a ~£20m flyer at this lad in the Summer when they've gone down, but a team sells their main striker and is desperate to replace him and all of a sudden they're coughing up £50m??
They'd want that kind of money whenever they sell him, be it now or in July.

We just need to be far better at finding players before they reach Premier league level. There is value available in both windows if you are able to scout properly and then develop players. I dont think we do either particularly well.

Marteta - big roasting lump
Larsen - one goal all season

All absolute rubbish.
Our fan base are desperate though, because we see that our forward isn’t scoring loads & so the easy (and incorrect) solution is buying another one … but the issue is that we don’t support our striker enough/have runners that break the lines and go beyond the forward enough/vary how we get the ball into him enough/put a good cross in often enough.
