I agree with this but it shows the double standards of the manager. Several players were awful that game.
Mcneil stinks the gaff out most weeks without putting in those solid unspectacular performances you mention.
Mcneil will play most games regardless of previous performance.
I've questioned the dibling signing since the start, he just never seemed to have the attributes we needed on the wing despite some good appearances last season. But hes also more likely to get better by playing, than mcneil.
I get it mate and if you go through the Mcneil thread no one is more critical of him than me and my heart sinks pretty much every time I see his name on the team sheet. But there was no doubt in my mind that Mcneil would get selected over
Dibling for Villa away, same will happen on Monday barring an injury to Mcneil.
Yes we know what we get with Mcneil, but what we're getting from
Dibling is for far less than what Mcneil is offering (which is absolutely mental but true).
There were loads of poor performances that Brentford game, but that 45 by Dibling was absolutely shocking. Appalling in fact. He didn't show much more against Sunderland tbf and I think
Moyes was wary of giving him the hook again at half time so gave him another 15.
We cant just select him and hope he suddenly turns it on, because as things stand he doesnt look like he can do anything. We can talk all day whether he should have been given more minutes (i think he should have been brought on in a few games for little 10 minute spells), but the fact of the matter is that he's miles off it atm.
Put it this way, if i had a choice of sending Armstrong or Dibling out on loan right now, I'd be picking Dibling to go every time.
Anyway, if he does get another game/chance soon, let's hope he grabs the opportunity with both hands as that's what we all want isn't it.
