January Transfer Window 2026

Assuming you are comparing those two things because of common ownership: They're a couple of years into the Roma project and Roma are in with an outside sniff of the title. Strengthening makes sense if the owners' aim is to win trophies.

We're trundling along to a mid-table finish. Nothing we could do in this window will be seen as transformational, so we'll keep our powder dry until the Summer.

As always, not what I want to happen, just what will IMO.
I think we may still end up with a random loan this window, but I'd expect us to have targets lined up well before next season starts if we aren't signing anyone this month.

No excuse with it being a difficult market with the world cup this year too as you'd expect there'd be a number of potential prospects to be identified.

The Portuguese lad was apparently first choice and he went to juve. Kubo was to expensive and Fofana said no. Not sure about bakayoko
As I said at the time, such a scattergun window. Go in for an Rb, just one, then abandon that idea. Go for pace on the right, then go left then go slow on the right. All in for Delap, then for Barry - weird

we are 3 points behind a Europa League place, hardly an insurmountable chasm with a few signings is it?

All true. We're all just a bit want-it-now really.

Lecce's best player to replace the Oaf?

Its a yes from me.
This is one for me we should be all over as soon as...they want 25 millions euros...just pay the money and dont wait until for another pl side to show interest. Apparently we are not attractive as a club, so more reasons to just go ahead and get it done this week.

I see Roma are starting to make some moves, Malen from Villa and Robinio Vaz, a striker from Marseille. Meanwhile we wait like patience on a monument.
Its either money (so TFG prioritising roma) or its pure and simple incompetence from the recruitment team/board. Right now I am on the fence, but possibly leaning more towards there is no money, or at least not a lot of money which means the recruitment team has to be creative, the same way thelwell use to work.

Not at all mate, but I don’t think Europe is a must for the owners so they won’t try to force the issue.

If I was a gambling man I’d say the targets were comfortable safety and, upper mid table at a stretch. We’re on target for that atm, so I would assume - again pure guesswork - that the groundwork will be laid for Summer recruitment that pushes our target to European qualification next year.

Our owners don’t care about our history, or get swept up in the emotion of us potentially getting into Europe. I reckon it’s all very methodical and target driven, and that’s not conducive to January panic buying.
