January Transfer Window 2026

Not having this theres not much time & availabilty line he's using.

This recruitment team have have been in place for months ( unlike summer ), transfers can and do take months and should never be kneejerk.
Availability will have been known for some time with talks from club to club and moreso agents will have been constant.

Are we still persuing targets that clubs & agents have firmly told us their player(s) will not be available ?
If so this is a really poor strategy & would ultimately lead to vastly overpaying to land those players.

Sorry not having this line being trotted out today.

Moyes has got to temper expectations. Hes saying we're looking, I believe we are and that if we can we will sign some players.

I personally think we will get two in whether on loan or permanent.
Why does he need to manage expectations though?

The expectation levels at the club hit rock bottom over the last few years. It's about time we tried properly to get better and be competitive again. We need a positive vision and urgency, not constant negativity and an acceptance of being a bit rubbish

Any right back in particular you recommend Furey?

Just examples I can see from good leagues would be:

All played at good levels, young, none of them would cost an arm and a leg.

Other than that, even if you go for experienced but unexciting players on loan like Tomiyasu or Maitland-Niles, neither are great, but literally anyone who is better than Patterson is an improvement.

Moved from 'more unlikely than likely' to probably

Currently down to two senior CBs at prem level. And J O'B played 90% of 2025 at RB.

Nowhere near acceptable regardless of league position. Luckily Tarks is never ever injured or suspended for any key part of a season (last season when he did his hammy the club were already safe).

Would imagine the potential loan market is getting a review after the Keane red was upheld as in terms of general mood around the club I don't think it would be great atmosphere if Leeds and DCL come to BMD in a few weeks and score 2-3 goals and win the game. They are playing well enough to do that currently.

Said before Jan window opened I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't do business but eff me, just sign some full-backs, they're out there, it's not like we're asking for Hakimi and Nuno Mendes.

If this club isn't looking at the table and going "you know what, let's go for it" then they aren't right for us.
Made more frustrating by the fact it looked like the first business we were gonna do in the Summer was bring in a starting-quality right back (Kenny Tete) before Fulham came back and upped their offer

Then you look at the money we’ve put on the line to bring in Grealish for one season that it feels like we are flushing away by having the Premier League’s most ineffective left back as his support

Patterson was supposed to go out in the summer window aswell, wasn't there some late interest from Sevilla?

He's been here nearly three years so it is not going to happen for him and he will just remain a squad filler with token appearances. With Scotland in World Cup surely he wants to give himself the best possible chance.

Add in O'Brien's long term future being as a CB and if the club went yet another window without signing an RB I would be very confused by what is going on behind the scenes.

Add in Branthy not actually playing a game since April so he's going to take a while to get up to speed when he eventually returns.

Injuries/Suspensions happen, I’d say 4 first team centre backs is fine and the right number for a team like us that don’t play in Europe

Does Scally come with his own Montirex jacket or would we have to provide it?
