Benham was using data analytics in finance for a decade before he worked for Bloom for a couple of years. Then they had a falling out and went their separate ways. It's hard to gauge the differences, I'd say Benham has embedded the approach more broadly than Bloom but who really knows. Has he just copied Bloom, I'd say no.Isn't it just the same as the Brighton model? The guy used to work for the Brighton owner, Tony Bloom, so it's not hard to see where he got the idea from
Thanks for the info mate. I'll certainly subscribe to that newsletter. I used to follow Paul Riley who's good on data analytics and is a massive Evertonian, pity we can't get people like him involved. Hopefully James Smith can sort the analytics side out. Purdy is a big loss I think.I don't know if you're already subscribed to it, but there's a newsletter I like called The Transfer Flow, which was started (and often written by) a guy who was central to the start of the Brentford and Midtjylland projects, and then went on to found and sell Statsbomb. Lots of good insight
I may be being too pessimistic but I'm kind of suspicious of that Chris Howarth appointment and Insight Sport company acquisition. On his LinkedIn he basically has founded a bunch of successful retail/shopping data companies before founding Insight Sport with no background in sport whatsoever, which was then bought by the Friedkins after 1 year of existence. I hope they and Kinnear weren't wowed by a few flashy powerpoints from some start-up founder type
Wake me up when we get to mulling please, ta.
Yeah fair enough, I was joking but realised it might be taken that way and couldn’t see a delete option on the post myself@UltraVires I deleted that post - please don't be encouraging harassment on here.
Amongst all the transfer criticism Dewsbury-Hall has been a really good signing.
I think getting him in is the difference between comfortable mid table season and relegation battle as Wolves or West Ham wouldn't look anywhere near as bad with KDH in the attacking midfield role.
Had my doubts on him around Spurs 0-3 game but he has been really good since and hopefully he's back very soon from injury.
Key then is to try to find an equivilant type at full back. Malo Gusto would be good but he's far more involved at Chelsea in playing prem games than KDH.
What about Ben White? Just warms the bench at Arsenal now. Played RB for years there and can fill in at CB so he'd certainly be a player Moyes rates and would allow J O'B to go central which surely must be the plan next season?
Maybe a year's loan in similar arrangement to Grealish?
I genuinely have no idea why we get surprised twice a year by the transfer window.David Moyes:
"Again, we're out looking, which means we're trying, but there's a good chance that trying doesn't get to anything, so we'll wait and see."
