January Transfer Window 2026

Which players do you think we should be signing this January window Macca? Anyone we're missing out on due to our 'inertia'?
I reckon if it was my full time job to find good football players, I'm quietly confident that in the space of 12 months I'd be able to find a right back who would improve our team who wanted to play for Everton. Yet we've been through several managers and various recruitment staff/directors of football and it seems totally beyond their ability.

Their data modelling allegedly.
Let’s hope this Data Science outfit Anus persuaded TFG to buy can generate similar results.
Genuinely, I hate to be that guy on this forum again, but people turn their noses up at data nerds and then ask why clubs like Brentford and Brighton can keep unearthing gems.

They have the best nerds and they are set up top to bottom so that they actually listen to those nerds 🤷‍♂️

They are small clubs so they have a ceiling on how far that can take them. Liverpool over the last decade have shown what can happen when a big club do the same thing. Sadly we've missed the boat on being cutting edge on that, but the least we can do is catch up

Yeah I think it’s more likely that our recruitment team are clowns than there isn’t a right back on the planet available that we could realistically sign.

No it’s not at all, what are you on about  It’s not our literal paid job to find these players is it?
It's not you're right Mike. But if we're going to criticise transfer policy it's helpful to point out the players we're not going for who we should be

I'm confident our recruitment team have many right backs on their wish list. I'm also confident that Moyes has vetoed some of the suggestions. I'm also fairly sure the clubs these players play for are playing a hard bargain and we're either not going to just pay over value like before for these players and are trying to run our finances more professionally than in the Moshiri era. Would you rather pay over the odds in January for an okay right back or wait for a better right back and better deal in the summer which could quite easily be the reason why we're keeping our powder dry (you also have to factor in how new our transfer committee model is at the moment)

Lads how about a striker? Sell Beto to Roma for forty mills and buy any of the following who I’ve scouted, all have an XP strike rate of >2 a game and would solve Everton’s goal problem instantly.

1- Ute Ubstar - Racing Parmesan
2- Aye Liek - Young Boys
3- Ayma Bosskowt - FC Gorgonzola

What you waiting for Kinnear lad? Get the chequebook out or take a hike.

How about Gazta Txigortua ?

Tasty player

Come the summer you’ll be telling us we need to wait until the last week of the window to ensure we get the best deal and not a panic signing. You spent last summer trying to convince us that they had a master plan and knew what they were doing, which turned out to very much not be the case. You’ve fully fallen into the trap set by these bluffers.

Come the summer we should have our transfer team fully in unison and hopefully a more smooth way of identifying and purchasing new players. If we go into next season with O'Brien at right back and Beto as our other striker (Barry I'm prepared to give time ) then I'll be joining you Mike in criticising the clubs transfer strategy.

Yes. The time has come for them to be held accountable. I expect a fast start in the summer and no excuses about the World Cup.

I think that's more than fair Mike. This season was to me a consolidation season, I wasn't expecting much but was hoping for a cup run. My big disappointment from this season has been Moyes attitude towards Dibling and Aznou who are clearly thought of as important to our long term future yet Moyes has outcast them and preferred average players like McNeil and Mykolenko ahead of them who we know we'll never progress with and aren't good enough for our long term plans on improvement

This is why I don’t buy the “Moyes does the scouting and the recruitment team just sign off on it” thing. Why would Moyes have been so set on signing Aznou? Someone at the club scouted him and I really don’t think it was Moyes.
