January Transfer Window 2026

….well if you don’t like rumours, you certainly seem to spend a lot of time in this thread

I like them and welcome posters putting them in here, it is a transfer thread.
Never said I didn’t like them, said I wouldn’t take much notice of them, slightly different

….it is odd that in the global football market we can’t identify and agree a deal for a suitable full back to come in as soon as the window opens. Obviously the skill set for a striker makes them more difficult to unearth but there must be plenty of effective full back options out there.
I don’t disagree but there is something in it the fact that there is a uniqueness to the PL in terms of intensity, etc which clearly does impact upon players abilities to a lot right in. Yes we could buy a FB for 50m plus who you’d expect to do so but could you buy a 23 year from South America, bring him to the Docks on a Wednesday night and expect him to hit the ground?

I know it’s the old Stoke cliche but there’s an element of truth.

That said, how we haven’t bought any full backs for so long is shambolic, but we already all agree that the club has been shambolic for ages.

Im expecting us to strengthen areas we don’t need to strengthen as that’s what we do.

That being said. I don’t want us to spend money for the sake of it.

Look where that got us with klaasen Sandro etc.

….fair point, but people are paid lots of money to identify targets that tick the boxes to meet our requirements, regardless of the budget we have.

Maybe they’ve been stung with Aznou looking nowhere near what they hoped for but that might more reflect the inability of our recruiters.
