January Transfer Window 2026

‘Prioritising prem experience’

Im gonna scream. We’ve got loads of prem experience in the squad. If the best player available is prem experienced, then fine, go for it, perfect. But if the best player is in the French league or wherever, then why refuse to entertain the idea?

Quality should be the biggest priority when it comes to signings, nothing else. We have a very experienced back line, I’m sure a RB who has never played in the prem will be fine playing next to them.

Who are ‘prem proven’ RBs then? What does that limit us to?
Keiron Trippier , but he's injured 😂

So?

in my op i reference that i was talking about attacking players. That wasn't in the post you replied too. So sorry if there was any confusion there. Defensive players cost less then attacking.

Where players like ndiaye and satt have been very good for us and palace respectively. They had failed at their previous clubs which explains why they were available at that price.

Its really only minteh that is young full of potential and a attacker in that lost and he went for around the 30 i was referencing in my post
Ndiaye didn't fail at Sheffield United. He was their best player.

'Proritising Prem experince'

I think we are probably all just getting caught in the headlights of that term.

I certainly have, just from interaction today..

Really surprised we haven't done any type of business with Roma.
Apparently Uefa are keeping a really close eye on Multi club ownership, player transactions.

Wouldn't suprise me if we did any business with them.

I think we'll try and stay on the right side of all this especially with their being a big possiblity of both us and Roma being in European competition in the near future.

The likes of Textor,Chelsea/Strasbourg and Marinakis have have brought heat down on the Multi club system.

I don't disagree that these tournaments are quite bloated now which can make them lost their sparkle a bit, but I do find it surprising when English people complain about this (Not sure if you are or not)

England are one of the main beneficiaries of the Euros being expanded from 8 teams to however many it is now. Back in the 70s and 80s, England seemed to not qualify more often than they succeeded, they also missed out on a few world cups, but they are pretty much guaranteed qualification nowadays

It's a bit like the Champions league - expand it to help ensure the big clubs get in, and they then get the resources needed to maintain their position.
I’m Irish - and I agree with you, they’ve been expanded for money reasons not sporting. England cannot miss out now - qualification which used to be a serious test of English football has been reduced to farce. But FIFA and UEFA don’t want to miss out on one of the biggest TV markets.

I just think they've been very clear, through Moyes, what this window will be (or not be, in this case). They won't be spending a lot, if any. Good deals will need to fall into their laps for them to consider it.
Good staff find good deals they have gone on about this team they have assembled lets see them contribute something if they lose against Sunderland and the season just goes flat with just survival at around 12-14th it will show lack of ambition in my eyes while everyone is taking points off everyone we need to try and go for it I'm fed up being told it will be next year/next transfer window then again next year, us old folk need something before my toes finally curl up :)

I think people just want their strikers to score goals and rate them on that.

I really like barry but I understand hes a working and any striker would struggle to score goals in this team.

Obviously we need a better striker but in all honesty who doesnt. The RS have just spent £200m+ on two strikers and will tell you they need better strikers.

Its only really city, real madrid and maybe bayern Munich who dont and thats because they have the best in the world
The issue with Barry ( and with Beto to a lesser degree) is the amount of times they receive a pass. I don't mean the amount of times the ball comes to them, but the way it does. I see so many times our players effectively volley the ball at colleagues, rather than pass it. Its like they are desperate to get shut, so they overhit the pass, making it much harder to control.
