January Transfer Window 2026

This January-window is an interesting one. Normally the winter-window only get's you mediocre players for inflated fees but with the world cup coming there might be some bargains available. There will be unhappy players at topclubs pushing for/open to a move because they want gametime. The recruitment should poke around a bit to see which players are possible. Loans might be the way to go and we still have slots available.

Having said that I don't expect much from the window. We really need a starting RB and we should be willing to pay decent money for one.

We could definately use another striker but that looks a long shot. Strikers are hard to come by and freakishly expensive during the summer. Pretty much impossible to get a decent one in January without breaking the bank.

I would hate it if we would spend medium money on medium 29+ year old players. We tried that road already. Please not again. On the other hand it's not realistic to fill the squad with youngsters as we really need some immediate impact in the first team. Youngsters in general need time to adjust to the PL. We definately do need more talented youngsters on the roster though, but I think the January-window is not the time for that.

£0 King
£4mil Travers
£9mil Aznou
£12mil Alcaraz
£15mil Grealish
£17.5mil Rohl
£25mil KDH
£27.5mil Barry
£35mil Dibling

£145mil and thanks not including add ons. So he'll have spent north of £150mil.

The interesting parts are that:

Right back: We have none so we need 2.

Left back: Mykolenko is in talks over a new deal and Aznou seems to be someone for the future.

So at RB we'd need an immediate starter & a young player to compete with him for the starting spot.

Then at LB I dont think there would be many shouts for a new one if we saw Aznou come in and produce a display like Dibling did yesterday. Aznou to replace Mykolenko for next season?

That LB is an interesting issue as either Aznou isnt good enough (odd as he has the pedigree) or was always bought to develop for next season.

If we give Mykolenko a new contract then it tells me there wont be another LB until the summer or not at all.

I'm a little surprised we didnt trigger a 1 year option and sell him in Jan and sign a new player.
Thanks. Rohl is on loan isn’t he? Fee next year (dripped over contract id assume?).
Grealish - as per other chats atm, I thought we were paying 200k wages not a premium?
We also brought income in and saved wages.
I guess it’s the different ways of presenting them and the terms of the payments over the term vs up front, which I have no clue about.

really was quite shocked to hear only wolves have scored less

striker absolutely needed

i still see left back as a bigger priority than rb. once we have players back garner can play rb and i think he has all the tools to be very good there, then look to buy a specialist in summer

How is it a fact if you can't find me a single shred of evidence?

You know you're part of a simulation? If this test is successful you will be woken up and sent back to Earth to repopulate with a handful of others.

Do better for the sake of humanity.

You clearly have a lot more knowledge and contacts than I do so I can’t argue on whether these players were close to signing or not.

On the keeper point then I don’t know any keepers who fitted that bill so again can’t really argue.

I did read that Tyrer was subject to interest c. 500k but nothing formalised. Again I don’t have the knowledge so can’t disagree! If true then I’d have certainly cashed in, this needing x2 keepers!

No contacts just from reading on here and media reports.

If I could choose one totally unrealistic and unlikely transfer on paper...

Myles Lewis-Skelly at Arsenal

1 premier league start, 11 sub and 267mins overall this season in the league. He only started as Calafiori picked up an injury in the warm up.

Calafiori is their first choice and only 23 so will be a fixture at left back for the forseeable future.

Would they consider selling Lewis-Skelly for £40mil+ if Calafiori is only out for a week ?

That would be my dream January signing.

If he wants a World Cup place then he'll be pushing for a loan move. Then again come through at Arsenal and still gets games with injuries so could just easily stick around and get a title winner's medal.

Would be nice but... Only an option if he himself pushes for gametime and even then unlikely. Considering Arsenal are competing in all competitions and probably want to do everything in their power to get that long-awaited league title, they wont be too eager to see anyone leave without a replacement coming in.
