January Transfer Window 2023

Considering his wages are north of 100k a week we should be so lucky as to be offered a token fee
Sadly Yerry will find it difficult to find a club even when he’s free in the summer, and if he does find one it’ll be at a fraction of his current wage. The idea that someone will give us any money for him in January or even cover his current wage if we give him away isn’t going to happen.

So we are about to announce another 70 millions of loses for 21 22 season...not sure there is any room really for any significant signing which is a big worry for our survival bid this year. Hopefully we are able to sell one or 2 and get something back which will help us to put together at least one serious bid for a top young attacking player.

That Portuguese forward Felix who’s playing in the World Cup wants a move. Might be worth a punt for a loan. If anything would stop him going to Wolves?

??????

Loan?

To Everton?

Not sure that's true...playing 3 in midfield and with garner out until February, what's the alternative to iwobi-gana-onana...we need doucoure unless we are signing another midfielder in January.
And IF we're seriously looking at bringing in another CM we'll HAVE to sell someone.

We already need a striker and a wide man (and arguably a 10/CAM) - how many players can we add to the squad at this point without taking us back into financial hot water in terms of fees spent? How can we possibly cover MORE wages if no-one departs? How many vacant spots do we even have in the 25-man squad at the moment anyway?

Even the potential sales have to considered carefully: if we sell Kean and/or Gomes in January, we would bring in some transfer fees but how much wage space would we actually create? Neither of them are in the 25 names submitted at the start of August. Keane and Mina would clear wages and create space in the 25, but how much cash would we realistically bank from the sales? Rondon or Holgate being sold would probably make the most "book profit" but their wages won't be as high as Keane and Mina.

I think at this stage the club may well extend Doucoure by activating the one-year option. I also wonder if Coady might NOT be made permanent yet either - it may boil down to whether we need another loan in or not.

From Martinez to Benitez, pretty much every manager and DoF has made some absolutely woeful errors in the transfer market and also neglecting any type of long-term recruitment strategy. There's been no joined-up multi-year thinking in terms of building a squad since Moyes' tenure.

We now reap the rewards of these failures.

The whole club hasn't thought long term and the lack of a manager who can stay for two or three seasons and turn the entire squad over is part of our issues and why we end up with a notch pitch of a squad I agree... But don't let the board and owner off either they've been part or financially shocking mismanagement, which has also meant we are up against FFP and now have to sell to buy

Quite right re the board. The lack of commercial acumen is ridiculous - we're miles behind in terms of off-pitch income streams.
