They are spreading it across crazy 8 year contracts so the amortisation spreads

They generate huge amounts of revenue through shirt sales, big sponsorships deals etc

They must be pushing it close this time though

If the player signs an 8 year contract, his fee gets spread across the 8 years.

Now granted they still need to pay for the player, normally over the 2, 3 years, but they have the income to support such a thing.

I know but I think the fee is spread across the contract so it will be down in their accounts for example if mudryk was £88m and 8 years it will be 11m a year on their accounts (plus wages)

That's my understanding of it, could be wrong

Maybe. They have about a million players who they could sell for decent money, so I think they are ok in the short term. If they fail to get Europe for a few seasons, it may change.
