January Transfer Window 2023

I mean honestly, this makes the most sense and is probably right. We have complained that too often bad managers saddle the new ones with bad players, so why let him do that unless he can beat a very bad team and show some hope?

Thats what a RATIONAL board would do, but I do have my doubts the Everton board would.

It is much more likely that we are dealing with a tiny budget and the clubs that we are negotiating with are asking for stupid January money. As it gets closer to the end of the window we know that changes as others try to balance their books/go after their targets.

I'd imagine we are keeping our powder dry as we could get several in instead if we wait (instead of one expensive one in early cough McNeil cough). Although it will be Feb by the time we get to use these players, due to the world cup we would have just under half a season left to get the points needed with a better and deeper squad. So it makes sense if we don't panic, but that is not going to happen around here.

Sergi Canos at Brentford looks like his being made available, being realistic on what players we can attract and from I've seen of him he's direct and would be an improvement on what we currently have, shouldn't cost a great deal.

Morning all, what do you say? Here goes……

Everton never had a genuine chance of landing former Atletico Madrid misfit Matheus Cunha with Premier League rivals Wolves triggering the £44 million release clause in his contract, according to The Athletic.

On Thursday afternoon, Fabrizio Romano broke the news that Wolves had opted to turn Cunha’s loan into a permanent transfer after just three appearances, one start and no goals under Julen Lopetegui.

Everton are looking to sign Atletico Madrid central defender Felipe however the Toffees may need to sell first to fund a move, according to the Daily Mail.

It’s understood Abdoulaye Doucoure, Michael Keane, Mason Holgate and Yerry Mina could all depart the club to generate funds at Goodison Park (Daily Mail, pg 72, 13 January).

Felipe, 33, is understood to be on the club’s radar along with Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga. Everton have “firmed up” their offer for Elanga after holding talks with his agent earlier in the month (Simon Phillips, GIVEMESPORT, 1 January).

Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur have joined Unai Emery’s Aston Villa and Frank Lampard’s Everton in the race for Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma in the January transfer window, according to The Daily Mail.

TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook has told Give Me Sport that Frank Lampard’s pursuit to lure Anthony Elanga to Everton from Manchester United hinges on Erik ten Hag signing a replacement, most likely in the form of Memphis Depay.

Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are amongst a host of Premier League clubs reportedly interested in Shakhtar Donetskwinger Tete.
The 22-year-old currently has six months left on his loan deal at Lyon in France, as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

According to Liverpool Echo, Everton have reportedly enquired about Dango Ouattara of FC Lorient amid loan speculations over Arnaut Danjuma. It is understood that the Toffees are looking to bring in reinforcements to bolster their attack as they find themselves in the relegation zone after racking up poor performances in their recent outings.

Everton have reportedly expressed an interest in Lille’s Timothy Weah, but face competition from a number of clubs in the Premier League and in Europe.

Everton have reportedly expressed an interest in Hull City’s Colombian centre-forward Oscar Estupinan, though could face competition for the in-form South American.

Michael Beale has spoken about adding exciting players to this Rangers squad, ones with Premier League or European experience and in Todd Cantwell and Tom Davies, we have been linked with two players who have slightly lost their way after bursting onto the scene as youngsters.
Speaking to The Athletic, the England youth cap, after returning from a knee injury in 2021/22 has struggled for game time and told the media outlet that he won’t hesitate to move if it means being able to play more regularly:
“I love the club and the city but, ultimately, I want to play games, whether that be at Everton or somewhere else.

Mike Keegan has labelled Farhad Moshiri’s interview on talkSPORT an “utter car crash” after the Everton owner laid siege on the Goodison Park faithful in a stunning rant.

After taking the brunt of criticism this season, Moshiri took a swipe back at the Toffees fanbase in a talkSPORT interview with Jim White on Thursday (12 January), blaming them for influencing a number of his decisions that have ended badly.

Reacting to the interview, Daily Mail journalist Mike Keegan tweeted: “Just head the Farhad Moshiri interview on talkSPORT. “Utter car crash. ‘I’ve put my money where my mouth is’ cannot be disputed – the issue is the decisions that mouth has made. And blaming one of the best sets of supporters in England for manager churn? Delusional.”
