January Transfer Window 2018

He's literally the second highest transfer fee of all time.

Inflation, I accept he was leaving but he's a goal scoring machine we should have held out for longer. Man U may have chucked in a Martial or Chelski may have offered us batman ss part of the deal, as it is we ended up with Rooney and 75m. But nobody up top who would help us close the yawning gap between us and the top four. The fee we got looks cheap now. Looks like we were desperate to get him sold to find other deals.

We did not play the situation well. We should not have sold until the repkacement was signed. Would be interesting to know if we even enquired about Martial as part of an exchange. It might sound far fetched now but he was completely out of favour last season.

They were never letting Martial go.

I don't mind Toffee TV, but Ped chats wham when he's going on about Martial as part-exchange.

United would never have gone for it, and neither would the player.

Thing is we have a decent young striker who is just not ready to be the man week in week out yet. We don't need to buy another one of those (although we might have to) - Likely the droids we ARE looking for are aged 26-28, experienced slotters in a reasonable league who are prepared to gamble on us (maybe had a poor start to the season or already dropped to second or third choice) and wont cost upward of 40M, although having a new record purchase would take some pressure off Gylfi (great reason to spend!). They cannot be perennial sick notes because we wont have depth, they have to be good in the air and reasonably quick or have good vision to get on the end of a through ball.
Surely someone out there plays enough video manager games to know the answer - Ronald?

Lukaku had already announced he knew who he was playing for before the window even opened. The deal was already done so no way were we going to wait until the prices went mad. We got the money as soon as we could as it was already being spent on the first few signings. We just had to wait for Lukaku to come back off from holiday and stop his Keenan and Kel impressions with Pogba.

Exactly this!

When do part exchanges ever happen?

If Martial became availible all sorts of clubs would be sniffing round him
