Can would be a decent signing. Strengthens the weakest part of the team with a good player at a good age.
He needs playing time with the euros.

Found him.

Julian Wesley Green
(born June 6, 1995) is a professional soccer player who plays as an attacking midfielder or a winger for Greuther Fürth, and for the United States national team. He holds both American and German citizenships.
He began his professional career at Bayern Munich and was part of their squad that won the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup. After making four competitive appearances for Bayern, scoring once and having a loan at Hamburger SV, he moved to VfB Stuttgart in January 2017, winning the 2. Bundesliga in his first season. He spent the 2017–18 2. Bundesliga season on loan at Greuther Fürth.
Green represented both Germany and the United States at youth international level. He made his senior international debut for the United States in March 2014 and was selected for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, where he became the youngest American to score a goal in the competition.

HASENHUTTL ON JANUARY WINDOW

Southampton
boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has been speaking on the January transfer window and here's what he's got to say.

He said: “It’s still the same behaviour. We are looking for a package that fits for us in the moment. The only that changed is that we are now performing better.

“The problem in the winter transfer window is that if you sign a player and he is not really used to the philosophy we play, it takes mostly one to two months until he’s on that level.

“As you know we have three or four months to go until the end [of the season] and it doesn’t make sense to loan somebody until the end of the season and then he’s going without an option to buy.

“And the rest, buying in the winter is not so easy. This makes it very difficult but when we find a package that fits to us, when we have an option to buy this guy in the summer, then it makes sense. We are looking.”

Can somebody get Brands number to him? He can have Naisse for wages only until the end of the season then buy him for free if he wishes, with no compulsory buy clause - great deal there fella!
Put an obligation to buy on the loan deal if it makes Ralph more interested!

Think our hands are tied because of the latest accounts and having to meet FFP regulations. Best we can expect is a couple of loans in. We’ve offloaded Tosun but we need more deadwood out.

I think it's that sort of short-term fix mentality that has hurt us so much in previous seasons. And then subsequently left us with such a weird squad.

We desperately needed a striker under Sam - bring in Tosun who is now on loan at Palace and we are desperate now to get rid.

Theo Walcott - bought in Jan - look at him now.

Schneiderlin - bought in Jan wasn't he? I may be remembering that wrong. Other than a 6 month spell he's been an unmitigated disaster.

Niasse was a January purchase I think? No further context needed.

I'd be fine with an 8-10th place finish this season, given where we are, if it meant the right people are brought in the summer early for Carlo to work with.

We need to stop thinking we can just fix everything with money. We can't.
European football is vital for attracting top players otherwise they are coming for the money.
There is a great chance of European football next season, If that means spending in Jan then we spend in jan.

No one decent is going to come to us with no European football. If they do come they settle in get relaxed and do a siggurdson and just pick up money.

He's a midfielder that doesn't really do anything and he'd be quickly turned on by our fans because of his previous club.

Plus I imagine he would never want to come here in the first place.
