Honest to God, do some people ever reflect on what they're being spoon fed in the media.

Do you really think that Moshiri and Usmanov didn’t know there were going to be losses and Carlo would join with a “ significantly” reduced transfer bucket to play with

...Koeman was the disastrous appointment; Walsh, when allowed, brought us some decent talent for not that much of a fee: Gueye, Lookman, Calvert-Lewin. Koeman signed all the expensive rubbish like Klaassen, Bolasie, Sigurdsson.

For example, it was Unsworth who suggested to the Board we sign Calvert-Lewin. The DoF is accountable for authorising transfers, so the DoF should be accountable for all signings and agreeing the transfer strategy.

Gueye and DCL were terrific signings, but the bad far outweighs the good. Walsh was a disaster of a DoF, I even think he was a disaster as a scout.

Moshiri should have had a CEO worth their salt from the off. He's just a divvy seduced by all the talk for the need of a DoF.

That “divvy” is worth 1.9 billion

Hopefully @Eggs will add some more detail and sizzle later on...

For me, the signings from the list I would like would be Ferro, Dias, Fernandes and Branthwaite.

Ferro and Dias are both very similar players at Benfica. Ferro is the left sided centre back and Dias is on the right.

Both 22, Dias has had almost global links to the top tier sides and 16 caps while Ferro has gone under the radar with no caps to his name. Im not quite sure why as I cant see the difference between them really, perhaps @BlueToff @Nymzee could enlighten me?

Seems strange that we are linked with Benficas starting two centre backs...never heard of anyone selling both in a Jan window but still exciting lol


Fernandes seems to have fallen out with his coach and is a world class talent...branthwaite of course has the feel of a Stones/Holgate type signing.

Id be very happy if we brought those 4 players in this window (as unlikely as it may be).

Dias has looked good whenever I've watched him. Not really noticed Ferro alongside him, though!

No official figures have been released yet, the only figures in the public domain are unofficial suppositions based on widely accepted or rumoured numbers.

My guess is that someone in the know - the Ruskie fella on the board? - has dropped a word to a few favoured journalists to soften the blow. The numbers are going to be ballpark

However, Ancelotti would not have taken the job without guaranteed expenditure etc. which almost certainly underpins my pet theory that Moshiri is fronting Usmanov
