Go through history and you will find some world class players being signed by English clubs in January. And if a lot of teams have the same view about buying in jan, especially the top teams. Then isn’t that another reason why it might be a good time for a chasing club to sign a player that they probably couldn’t attract in the summer.

Not really. I don't remember Silva or Brands recruiting either of them.

I also don't remember us being as stretched at centre half when we signed those players either.

Centre half is the only position I see any need to go into the January window.
