he looks about 12!

Breel embolo only 17 do people think he can make an impact or sonething like the hennen in the u21 squad

Much as I love how stacked our academy is, we need to be bringing in ~22 year olds at least (and ~28 year olds at most, unless they're a cheap stop-gap). I'd almost judge u21 acquisitions as a separate window entirely. They're vital for the long game, but that's not the one where we're 3 points off the drop zone.

So few actually make it that it's barely worth talking about them. You want to try and poach other teams' 19-21 year olds.

It's not nice but the same happens to us.

I'm surprised that people still think Everton are in the market to buy the finished article.

We're not one of these mega rich clubs who go out an spend fortunes, we have to be looking at the likes of Townsend who quite clearly shows loads of potential, some of the things he can do are fantastic, he's already an international and could a premiership player but his ceiling is through the roof. If we could get him and actually turn that undoubted potential into reality than we'd have another £30 million player on our hands.

I'm not saying some our fans are thick, Townsend may prove to be a dud, but that's the market we should be looking at. That, or big name proven players at a good age who are having a tough time along with the Mirallas type of bracket players from abroad who have clauses in there contracts or about to go out of contract.

Those fans sitting on this board expecting us to sign players at the top of there game are in for a long, long wait.

It will be interesting to see how much berahino goes for from west brom. itching towards the lukaku fee.

Begs the question, if we have money do we spend it on a big signing every year and a lower priced one --lukaku / besic or do we spread it around the team?

I think we need another lukaku level signing on the wing, then were stuffed at centre back and keeper...sigh

The problem is I'm not 100% won over on Martinez ability to spend the money wisely. He has brought two in that have been good, McCarthy and Besic, one big money who I'm happy with but at that price hardly a bargain and some very questionable older players, frees and contract extensions plus some blatantly obvious mistakes like not getting a creative winger/Pienaar player when any fool could see that was the most important position we where lacking.

He's only into his 4th window now, but it's not a poor record, that's for sure. His misses haven't cost much, and his big purchases seem to be pretty good

Martinez purchases:
Good
£28m Lukaku
£13m McCarthy
£4m Besic
Loan Lukaku
Loan Deulofeu
Loan Barry

Average or less (subject to change)
£6m Kone
£1.5m McGeady
Free Alcaraz
Free Barry
Free Eto'o
Loan Atsu
Loan Traore

Undecided
£1.5m Robles
Stanek
Galloway

He's done pretty well when he sells players:

Anichebe 6M
Jelavic 6.5M
Fellainin 27.5M
