Main thing is Moshiri learns from this, stupid signing, waste of money, no more dumb premadonna signings, was mad enough years ago giving a last pay day to Mark Hughes, Gazza, Ginola...etc but least they actually wanted to.play, this one was just too keep Carlo happy.

Which was worth it. If to get Ancelotti you had to get James then it was a no brainer. What we've learnt is that football has no honour, even from someone who was supposedly a good character. Or just unlucky Madrid wanted him back at that time and he couldn't say no. Although he probably would have jumped to any CL club...

From Bascombe in the Telegraph...

(And I'm going to get the popcorn for the replies)

"The Colombian signed a two-year Goodison deal worth £250k a week in 2020. His contract included a clause to activate a third year based on appearances. Given Rodriguez was only available for 48 per cent of the minutes Everton played last season, that was not triggered. It never will be, either, given the understandable reticence to spend a further £26 million in wages on the 30-year-old over the next two campaigns."

A loan?!

An bloody loan?!

Probably subsidising his wages to boot?!

To a club in one of the richest countries in the world?!

At a time when we cannot replace him?

Any way you slice it it's ridiculous situation to be in from the club - even the Benitez cultists must see that.

Let see if we actually bank any of these so called savings for use in the January transfer window eh - I hope Marcel can drag himself away from his sunbed....
Thing is loan is proberly just semantics, going to be hard to sell him, no.club is going to be stupid enough to actually buy him, likewise if we were stupid enough to offer him the high wages in the first place thats on us.
A loan just gets his (some) of his wages of the books, which is all we can do.

He will be match fit, more importantly we have a specific need for him in out team as a striker.

James does not have a role in Benitez team, in fact he doesn't have a role in most managers teams as he needs to be accommodated. He is a luxury player in every sense of the word.
If that was the case why did we fail to transfer him on deadline day just gone?

If those numbers are even remotely accurately, then why was the move sanctioned in the first place

Bascombe was among the people reporting he was in line with our other highest earners last year.

Plus, if the reports are true that Al Rayyan are paying 8m to cover his wages, then it means James is on less than that.

It genuinely does just keep jumping up. It was 'nearly 200k' in July, then 200k in August, then 'north of 200k' on deadline day and now 250k :D

Would you employ someone who stated in his interview that if his old employer wanted him he could jump ship,no questions asked no financial recompense? Moshiri, top owner.

It was originally a pay cut from his 140k he had been on at Madrid if you look back at the media reports then. Even in July this year, Marca were reporting it was 7m a year (134k a week).
