one decent goal vs a relegated charlton thats it , he left to quick for my likeing ,look at the guys moyes brought back , gravesen /jeffers/jo / all were pants

Mcfadden is a talented footballer that belongs in the prem no doubt, but he was sold because he was not quite consistent enough for a team that is regularly challenging for europe, bringing him back is not a good idea, but also saying he's ****e or whatever is wrong because alot of brummie fans i know said his injury was one of the key reasons they got relegated, expect him to be playing for a Blackburn or Villa next season.

These match reports from the beginning of Birmingham's 2010/11 season go some way in proving McFadden is a capable footballer at the highest level:

He seems to be heavily involved in all these games and before you say, "...but it's against Bolton", take a minute to remember our results against Bolton last season. In fact, Bolton away was our worst performances last season.

McFadden suffered a serious injury after the Liverpool game and wasn't seen for the rest of the season. Don't get me wrong, he's not the most ideal of signings, but I genuinly think he could offer us something. He's left-footed, and more to the point, he's capable of using it. However, to be a squad player here, his wages would definitely need to be lower than there were at Birmingham.

McFadden doesn't make Everton any better.
Agreed. He just adds to the numbers in the squad. I'd rather we took a punt on another Beckford from the Championship or mould a young player into the striker need. This is purely insurance & not visionary.

McFadden , would be an almighty step backwards IMO.

Surely we have a younger more hungry player who could do just as good a job?

Think about it though... those pink shirts with MCFADDEN on the back will sell in their thousands on Canal Street and Brighton.

It's a merchandising masterstroke by Bill

At least McFadden's only 28 and if he stays fit can't be any worse than Bily or Anichebe coming on in a wide position - just as long as Gueye's progress isn't hampered.

He's in no position to demand high wages (would probably agree to a pay-as-you-play deal), won't cost a transfer/loan fee and it's probably advantageous to come to Goodison with little or no expectation from the fans rather than being a new kid from the lower leagues having to deal with all the related pressure.

Plus 'that' goal against France in Paris was sublime (and won me a fair few quid) and 'the other one' against Charlton as mentioned previously in the thread.

Weve been in talks to sign him over the last few weeks:

David Moyes has confirmed that Everton have held talks with representatives of ex-Goodison midfielder, James McFadden, about a return to the Blues but admits that Celtic is a more likely destination for the Scot.

"We have been talking to James and the people behind him for the last few weeks," he said. "It could happen but I would say it's probably going against that now."

McFadden is a free agent after being released by Birmingham City to whom Everton sold the former Scotland international for £5m.

Because he is not contracted to any club, Everton would be free to sign McFadden between transfer windows
