2017/18 James McCarthy

Watch him when our "defenders" are looking to make a pass under pressure, he's the one man marking an opponent and pointing to someone else.

An absolute cart horse of a player. One of the remnants of the Martinez era that still somehow hasn't been shown the door. I had hoped a move would have been lined up for him as soon as the window opened, as he for some reason still has a decent reputation as a workhorse midfielder. He's extremely limited and would possibly only get into a few starting elevens in the entire division.

He, like a number of players, come back and have a good game giving you the idea they maybe worth keeping.

But the truth is they're not and should been sold seasons ago.

McCarthy has lots of energy, lots of hard work, but no end product of any kind. Hes was nowhere near good enough for a top 6 side before his injury, and he isnt now. Much like with Bolasie injury recoveries dont magically make players weaknesses go away, just might take a game or two to see it again.
