Exactly. But he wasn't fit two weeks ago...
And he wasn't risked last week - as Koeman pointed out in his post-match presser after WBA.
"Normally it would be one or two weeks out for McCarthy."

If he's hobbling off after 20 minutes that bolloxes up their game plan, so no.Perhaps because he is the best player they have and like wales with bale, will play him no matter what as long as he can get onto the pitch?
True, they probably wouldn't do it if they didn't think he couldn't make the 90, but to Ireland they don't really care if he has a relapse of any injury once the game is over to be fair.If he's hobbling off after 20 minutes that bolloxes up their game plan, so no.
Same with every national team everywhere.True, they probably wouldn't do it if they didn't think he couldn't make the 90, but to Ireland they don't really care if he has a relapse of any injury once the game is over to be fair.
Exactly.
I dont know why he does it but he does. He has an insane vendetta against O'Neill and Keane. It's off the charts mad. Only one winner there: the RoI. That's the way the dice is loaded and Koeman is a fool for picking a fight with them. Why would he say he really likes James then lie about him being injured? Wouldn't McCarthy himself come out and say "he's lying I'm fit to play".
Also, IIRC, he's obligated to go play for them when called up irrespective of how unfit he is.

He shouldn';t have to put up with this BS each international week. It's obviously a fight between our management and there's but why you're picking sides is strange (not surprising).
Fact is: Koeman likes him (as you've previously said), he got injured, he's not fit enough for us so isn't fit enough for them, past experience shows he goes away with them then breaks down, we pay his wages. Ireland call him up and he legally cannot say no to them.
I feel sorry for McCarthy stuck in the middle. Personally I feel if it continues and it hampers his fitness further we will sell him just to put an end to it.
He shouldn';t have to put up with this BS each international week.
He IS fit.He shouldn't but Ireland shouldn't be awkward and call him up when he's not fully fit. It's just being petty.
And please don't say he is fully fit like you work at Everton or for the ROI and you know this.
He shouldn';t have to put up with this BS each international week.
I should hope so too, unless Koeman makes a big song and dance out of it and leaves him out to 'prove' how right he was that McCarthy isn't fit enough to play. What BS?
Neither the club or Ireland have made any comments.
He didn't play against WBA as he had an injury.
He hadn't recovered sufficiently enough for Koeman to deem it worth risking a set-back against Hull.
If he plays for Ireland then he'll feature in the derby.
