I think the Arsenal game saved McCarthy. Koeman was impressed (as was I). But he needs to show it way way more often between now and the end of the season if he wants to stay here after then.

You would think so.

And even at that, if he was content to stay and fight for a place, there is no reason why he would not get plenty of game time in our existing set up because when he was fully fit and in form, he has been every bit as good as we have seen Gana play in the first half of this season.

We know what Jimmy Mac is capable off, he is younger than both Gana and Schneiderlin and IMO keeping him would be a good thing.

It was a return to form for sure

He just needs to stay fit and find some consistency

McCarthy is far superior IMO. He needs to sort his fitness and consistency out though.

He's ready for first team PL Football, which puts him on par with our entire Central Midfield, below only Gana and Schneiderlin, which is where Jimmy Mac also is

Jimmy Mac goes in the summer, Loftus-Cheek comes in, all is well

He and Davies are both young and could be the future midfield axis of the club for years to come

depends on who's wheelchair is rusting by then!

I wouldn't be opposed to sending Besic out on loan when he gets healthy. I personally like our depth in this area now, but we need to find a way to Jimmy Mac and Besic game time so they can showcase their value. I'd like to keep them both and get rid of Barry, but it is hard for players to accept bench roles, and we wouldn't be able to promise everyone game time.

Both are also injury prone, which is another reason to potentially get rid of before their values plummet.

Only seen him a few times but he's a tank of a kid. Like Chalobah too from them lot.
