I rate them equally, different type of player, Jamo excels defensively and Besic has the edge offensively.

Would make a perfect old style partnership at number 6 and 8.

Not good enough with his positioning nor does he have the range of passing. Besic is capable but hes even better when given licence to get box to box

I said last week I dont think McCarthy can play the Barry role and I stand by that, but he could easily play as a DM, would need a slight tweak in tactics, but only minor, no reason why McCarthy couldnt learn the role, the issue is, Barry just sits, Jamo isnt a sitter, hes a hunter, same as Besic, so it could cause an issue, we would probably have to go back to 2 DMS without Barry IMO.

So we would play 2 ball playing CBs, say Stones and Mori, thus meaning THEY do the Barry role of starting attacks, McCarthy just sits in the middle and hunts everything that comes near, assisted by Ross and Mume.

If you then go one deeper and ignore the u21s then at that stage we would only have McCarthy,Besic,Barkley,Tarshaj for 3 positions so would need another two players in.

It 'could' mean another Barry/Busquets type player in the DM role to alternate with McCarthy and we definitely need competition for Besic (especially with his injury record which is soul destroying).

Will be interesting to see what Martinez does.
