James McCarthy

that's not true mate, at all.
he sits in front of the back 4 thus he was up against a fluid advanced three of KDB, Sterling and Silva.
Zab and Yaya were sat deep punching the ball into the above 3 and Aguero.
He was absolutely brilliant against some of the best players in the PL. He wasn't anyywhere near high enough to be contesting against the two you're (seemingly) referencing. They were being closed down by Barkley, Kev and Davies.
Anyway, on topic, I think James Mac is too good to let go personally.

Agree mate. I don't think we are actively looking to sell him, and I reckon he isn't 'actively' looking to go.

But if a good offer (both fee and wages) comes in and he wants to play first-team footy, then I can see him going.

As @bluestevon said though, it'd be late in the window, and only when Gana is back I think.

You underestimate the prices average players are going for now. Deeney was £30 million rated, Dwight Gayle went for £10 million, Wijnaldum £25 million, Gestede £6 million, Ross McCormack £10-12 million etc.

Cleverly for all his faults is still of a good age, ex England international and is an established PL player. He would easily fetch £10 million in the current market.
I don't mate its just the price that has been agreed if the sale goes ahead.

He demands Barkley get behind the ball, and Koeman tasked Schneidrlin to get up into the opposition half more at Southampton.

I can honestly see a convergence of the role RB has been playing and the role of one of the CM berths taking place under Koeman. The position as played by RB is now obsolete...and Koeman doesn't do playmakers.

Juan mata says hi mate.

Barkley exploded onto the scene because of the way RM set up primarily away from home with a massive emphasis on Barkley spearheading the counter attacking drive we deployed so often away.

That's Barkleys game. He isn't a pack mule who'll do a Gueye role, and he isn't a Mata type. He can adapt yes - under Koeman he has laid the ball off for a simple pass more often now. But that isn't the beauty or significance of his game. He's a Lampard type. Obviously he won't get his goals, but that's what he does: picks up at the halfway line and drives for goal making things happen.

A lampard type, errm Dave did you ever watch lampard? Serious question because lampard didn't pick up the ball at the half way line and drive,at the box, he made his entire game on arriving late and finding space on the edge of the box, absolutely the polar opposite of Barkley.

The best things about lampards game are the weaker ones of Barkleys.

One of the least like Barkley players you could have chosen for a similar position

No mate, I think it;s you who need to familiarise yourself with Lampard's game. That was a signature of his game, and the arriving late in or around the box is exactly what Barkley does to get his goals (not enough times obvioulsy).

You stick to reviewing the Kazakhstan and Belorussian premier leagues mate, and I'll stick to reviewing our premier league.

So lampards game was taking the ball inside his own half travelling with it and beating players, using his body strength to hold players off.

News to me mate, could have sworn that his game was all about intelligence, timing and finding space, missed those highlight reels of his mazy runs.

As for watching him and familiarizing with him, yeah I will stick to Russia mate, and bow down to someone who thinks gundogan plays for man United you utter wum.

You may be a great blue mate, but your act is getting old, and you've been shown up as being an utter buffoon in regards to the premier league.

Anyway, done with you mate, once you where amusing and sometimes worth reading, but like a fat Elvis it's become just a little bit sad.

Anyways off to watch some Russian players cos that's my forte dontchayno

Fell at the first fence there. No, I do not think that not did I state that.

I see myself as G.I. Elvis tbh...neutered of any social significance but still capable of warbling a good tune once in a while.

Lampard and Barkley similar players ...... just laughably bad mate. Btw, Koeman showed up massively why tiki taka doesn't work in this league, would you agree?

Despite all bad I probably ever said, when he plays well, dare I say it... with aggression, he fits in well.

For that reason alone he's a perfect squad player currently and will be going nowhere.
