I feel like I've just come out of bunker after a nuclear bomb ,to scenes of devastation , deserted wasteland all around apart from three figures gamely attempting to play football. I rub my eyes and ,yes ,yes it's Kone, Cleverley and McCarthy like sodding cockroaches arrrrrrrrrgh. Been a long night time for bed.
 
When we first got McCarthy he was a strong commanding no nonsense box to box midfielder who was comfortable on the ball, could play defensively and create chances up front

For some reason Martinez decided to change his natural attributes and turn him into a different kind of footballer than simply didn't suit him ( like he did to a lot of players ). All of a sudden he lost his leadership qualities and because a player Martinez wanted which was more free flowing ie a Barcelona way. This isn't McCarthy and never was and by changing the way he played has completely shot the confidence in the lad who at 24 years of age had been playing to his attributes all his life to be told to play a new way.

There is definitely a player here somewhere i know there is, we have all seen his qualities when he first came. He just needs to be loved and shown faith. I think he could be vital for us this year

Mate, Martinez created Mccarthy almost from scratch when he bought him from Hamilton. He got him to play to the heights he reached in his first 18 months here and he encouraged him to broaden his game by getting forward more often.

His confidence isn't shot, his body broke down. If/when he gets back to full fitness he will easily command his place back. I'm glad to see that he's still here. How anyone would think Koeman wouldn't value this type of player is beyond me.

He was never this though, was we? That's something I would love to see him add to his game, but never been in his locker.

Well I don't mean assists as such I mean he would pick passes to set up players who would create

I agree though I hoped he would potentially have added more goals to his game but every time he lines up for a shot you know it's never going to go in "definitely not a natural ball striker"

Koeman stated three times he was staying. And he stayed, funnily enough. Nothing to do with Sissoko falling through as there'd have been Davies, Barry, Gueye, Gibson, Cleverley and Besic eventually.
 
I remember being like with James Rodriguez, but in reality we've ended up with oumars cockney cousin

The "investment" has come five years too late

100m these days is like having 20m five years ago.

2 crocks, a kid and a cleverly.


If an improvement could've been made on him no doubt he would've been out the door, once again though a board has failed to sufficiently support their manager
