James McCarthy

Of course, there is a difference in expectation. Some players are just better suited to playing without the pressure that comes from playing for a big club.

Whatever. I've read through your posts and you strike me as the type of individual who thinks he's always right and sees things only his way. I have nothing for you except abuse. You thick ****e.

It shouldn't matter how much he was. man united spent £28m on veron years ago, it isn't THAT much for a prem player these days and I'm sure it wasn't all cash upfront. We can't always have it our own way and he's someone Martinez was determined to get. Anyway, bit late to the party but wanted to say good luck James, all the best with your career at the bossest club in the world.

It's sad how you've become all misty eyed over Martinez, and let that affect your normally better judgement on kenwright. Evertonians like you may well accept it, I'm sure McCarthy can help fire us to our 10th place finish, that you've already stated you're not bothered about.
I want more than that, I expect more than that, and the business we have done is far from "perfect". Next summer when Lukaku goes back, and we're stuck with a 30/31 year old striker leading our line (kone) we will regret wasting all that money on McCarthy, when we should have brought a striker/more creative player.

Martinez/Kenwright have been stupid enough to spend more money on a championship player, than Spurs did for Eriksen. McCarthy was never worth more than 8. Given we only got 27/28 for Fellaini, we should not have paid more than 10.
We have been mugged, but some fans will lap it up, just like home draws to West Brom or Stevenage, if you tell them it's a new "attacking style". We invented attacking football long before Kenwright and Martinez came. Nil Satis Nisi Optimum, ponder on that for a bit, before judging business as perfect.

...and again, someone posting who's still living in the 80's.

Wake up mate. The transfer market economics for a club like Everton have passed you by.

I don't know what standard you're judging by but I'm judging by REALITY and the HERE and NOW....not woulda, coulda, shoulda, or "down the road we'll be screwed."

You know what? I've been hearing that same song and dance for the last ten years from posters like you. They aren't around anymore. You figure out why.

In 5 years we'll look back and think "what an incredible signing".

The lad has played an incredible amount of games for someone so young as well as a good number of caps.

He'll be the key figure in our system, and our squad seems to have fixed the age issue.
This can means that he is already very developed comparing to other 22 years old players. So there's very limited upside to his game.

or that Ireland and Wigan were 5hite and hes the best of 2 pretty bad bunches?

Its ridiculous to think that a 22 year old in our squad around our group players on a daily basis will not improve.

On a seperate note...Eriksen wouldnt have signed for us. Its like saying Man United signed Cantona for £1M - which they did...didnt mean he would have signed for everton though.

You are quite obviously the best Everton fan around, you with your massive aspirations and unflinching ambition. Truly you are everything Nil Satis stands for. You're also barking mad. Listen to yourself, get off that high-horse, and reconnect to reality--- its been over 20 years...

...I'm presuming this guy isn't (League) Cup tied because Wigan are in Europe and didn't play in the last round. In fact I'm presuming all of our additions are available for the Fulham League Cup tie which could be a bonus.

Very good.

Erikson?? Yes very good player, cheaper than Mcarthy but would he come to Everton? Haha would he F@&K. Wages and ambition make them deals impossible for us.

Got a feeling Lukaku might not be.
