James McCarthy

We should ask the FA to consider a retrospective ban, and withdraw McCarthy from the squad until they do.

Embarassing comment to make. As the other lad said take your blue tinted specs off. If a Liverpool player made that tackle in the derby we would be fuming at him not getting a card - or in any game against us.

We got lucky - and did so a bit with Barry as well.

I'm not complaining about it - but im not going to bury my head in the sand and try and convince myself it was "only a yellow". Jesus Christ I know football better than that.

He did get a card. He deserved a card. But it wasnt definitely red. It's a poorly timed challenge but as others have said not every poor tackle off your feet deserves red.

Of course it doesn't, but that one certainly did.

Awful "tackle".
It's badly mistimed yes, but it's down to interpretation, so it isnt a certainty. I honestly think that's a yellow card offence. Straight reds you have to do something above and beyond yesterday's incident, otherwise everyone is just going to stop tackling off their feet.

Why is it embarrassing to want him banned ? Are you saying it wasn't a red ?

Why would I want him banned?!

We got lucky, yeah it was a red your right - thankfully we got away with it.

As far as I know seeing as he got booked for it, theres nothing the FA could do now either is there?

Time will tell on that one squire, very early days. You're the first one on here berating others for "kneejerk" reactions on players, same goes for managers.

We've played 9 games.

Hence why I'm giving him time mate. Who knows how he'll turn out?

I certainly wouldn't judge him before he's even played a game and write him off as inferior.

That's why I'm saying we demand the FA look at it, and if they don't, we ban him.

Everton are about setting standards, not sinking lower into the cesspit with the likes of Liverpool and Suarez and their ilk.

.....eh I don't think we start banning our own players just to set a standard that no one else reaches.

It was a late challenge, arguable whether yellow or red, but the ref made his mind up.

It is not like he has gone out to kill ffs.

We need him in good form for the derby. Gerrard will certainly not be holding back from his challenges... well timed or not.

Sure I've posted this but it seems to have disappeared. IMO he pulled his leg out when he realised he wasn't getting the ball by bending his knee. If he really wanted to do the fella like some parties are making out he'd have straightened his leg and got a deserved red card, but he didn't, so for me it's a yellow.
